Not selected
Does not mean bad
Or unsuitable?
People have to fit in
With the style
The colours
The motifs
Of an exhibition.
Anyway
I liked it X

Esther Chiltons weekly prompt of a limerick comes with a word to include. This week’s was to use the word “hack” somewhere in the poem.
This might make sense to American readers :
Don’t hack your Rose garden
Please give it a pardon
Let it thrive
And-Beehive
So plants grow, in your yard Don
How do you waste the most time every day?

Too much stuff to see
Glance, read, what was that?
View, like, heart,
Glance, worry, comment.
Distracting dopamine
Images, words, notes,
Got to stop, put it down
Doomscrolling
Not a good way of looking
At the world…

Red, orange and green.
Complementary colours
Glow in the afternoon sun
Dappled shade covers the view
Humid air drips with heat
Lazy bees circle the flowers
Looking for a drink
To cool their flagging wings
Summer has arrived.

Just playing with filters
Cats almost fade
Like lighting for a play
A theatrical act.
Or are they going to play games
Chase each other
Into the shadows
Curl up and sleep
Settle down?
Blue for calm
Blue for peace.

The world watches
ICE tendrils grip my heart
I could never visit this place
Antipathy to dictatorship
Not allowed now.
Colour matters
And causes fear and loathing.
Even the first settlers are abused.
Arrived before Europeans
And yet told to leave?
How many generations
Before you are allowed to stay?
All Glory to the Presiclown…?
No way.

I say hello to him every day
His eyes twinkle and smile
He was my green man
Now sadly gone.

Have you heard of cricket?
It’s a long game…
Two teams hit a ball.
Try to knock it over the boundary.
Two players run between stumps
On the playing surface
Between the two wickets.
A bowler bowls a ball fast or slow
Seamers, googlies, bouncers, catches.
The bowler tries to hit the wicket
Two short bales lie on top of three stumps.
That’s the wicket.
Hit the bales and knock them off?
Or knock over the stumps
Player is out.
11 players to a side
Two play
10 field
1 bowls
Collect runs to win.
1 point running between stumps
4 if the ball rolls to boundaries.
6 if the ball flies out over the boundary.
That’s cricket in a nutshell..
Highest score wins
Don’t get your leg before wicket…
It’s a very big nutshell…

I keep picking my phone up
Looking at the screen
A blip of endorphins?
Another look…
Gradually it builds
More reading
More reposting
Soon I’m overwhelmed
So much sadness, evil,
No compassion.
It hurts
Stop
Now
!!!

Tests……..a short poem….
Tested to destruction
But you keep going
Ploughing on into the future
Maximum effort to pass
Even by one point.
Tested for healthiness
Bounced and bumped and pushed
Given medicine that may transform
Be a “cure”
Test positive, or negative?
The result depends
On interpretations
May you all pass.
