Liberty

Scenery painting from a few years ago… I think I got the arms too long, the flame too small and the head too small too! But anyway it gives an impression of lady liberty. This was done for a pantomime just before or after the pandemic. I can’t remember.

And….. I think all that is happening in the USA at the moment has pantomime qualities. The two ugly sisters are obviously two billionaires. The fact that in a pantomime they would be men wearing drag is very ironic!

Who is Aladdin or the hero of this panto? Who can say, but it needs to be someone brave who will stand up to bullying! Maybe he should be a Robin Hood character instead, taking from the rich and giving to the poor?

Lady Liberty could be a Cinderella figure, she is there to support the huddled masses and the poor. She understands their situation as she is an immigrant from France.

Finally the whole thing is stage managed with boos and hisses… Evil takes control for a while but Good will triumph in the end. And the baddies will be banished!

Second version

I like this one.. Almost alien, orchid looking. Another kaleidiscopic view of  white and yellow tulips. The wilting petals curve and writhe in a frenzy of slow motion death. I could imagine it as a 3d printed plastic shape. A strange receptical for a bee or hummingbird to drink at. Almost like candied or crystalised fruit. It could be a sweet treat of spun sugar.

Staring at me

My Cat is staring at me, he’s been doing it for a while, I get the impression he wants something, maybe food or milk. I woke up from a nap and saw him just sitting there, so I took a quick shot of him. Cats have their own way of doing things, this cat is definitely unique.

Right, I’d better go and feed him and put the heating on it’s blooming cold!

Christmassy cactus

I watered my Christmas cactii and they have all developed flowers. My indoor plants have been sadly neglected this winter. I’ve been distracted by everything that has been going on. I have not looked after the orchids and my amarylis plants have not developed flowers. Oh well. It might be time to replace them, they are 7 or 8 years old!

Halfway round the sun

6 months ago the leaves

Held onto the trees

Fluttered in the breeze

Warm and gentle

Only slightly crisped

By cold winds and frosts

Halfway round the sun

The light slowly faded

Cold winds decended

Now the grey gloom remains

The sun visited us today

For half an hour

But still…….

Halfway round the sun

Spring is coming….

Greyhound

Local public house, the Greyhound pub in Penkhull. This was another of the photos that I got into this year’s calendar. It’s another thing that is helping raise money for the village hall that was flooded a few months ago when an old water tank in the roof burst. Luckily the place was cleaned up and dried out quite quickly.

The pub was a local court for Penkhull manor a few centuries ago, and though you cannot see it here, it appears to be tudor in origin though I don’t know for certain.

I was so pleased to hear that I had  got 3 photos in the calendar. If there is another competition this year I will try again.

Life!

Do you need a break? From what?

Take a break…. Lunch? No

What then?

Less stress, more rest….

But things keep going on

Coming at me

Bashing my mind

Thumping. My. Body

Some of it my own fault

But lost without my soulmate.

Tired and alone

Just want to stop the world

And get off

Leave the trolls behind

Hibernate, hide from. Life.

Not giving up

Just relaxing.
