It’s hot, too darn hot
I feel like I’m melting,
Like an ice cream
Or a candle
Or butter
I feel like a puddle
Of sweat!
Sorry that’s horrible
But it’s too darn hot!

rusty bedsprings
Slumped by the wall.
Used to support beans growing tall.
A line of washing shades the view
Helping ease the sun’s bright hue.
Plants bathed in heat
Wither and dry
Turning brown
Hope they don’t die.
Above all water of life,
Carried in the clouds
Stopping great strife.
Overall its a British summer.
Bright in parts, in others dimmer.
Some places have vines,
Others marrows,
As the heat of the day
Makes eyes narrow.
So interesting view
Shirts, trousers a few.
Dry in one day.
That’s all I can say.
View out the back door. The yard needs work but there is a passing thunderstorm so I’m keeping dry and watching a classic race from 2018 in the tour de France. At least the heat has gone. Its a good thing to I was shattered yesterday. Still tired now. I didn’t sleep well because of the humidity.
The madness continues my hubby is not happy. Grumpy. We are winding each other up in this weather. Even my feet feel tense. I have a low level tension running through me. All my muscles are tight. I feel like exploding. I think I will go out in the rain…..

One of the things I have to do on this illustration course is of course drawing. But I want to learn to do more digitally/visually. Its been a few years since I have drawn at websites or used photoshop. I usually use apps, which is fine, but I need to hone my skills. Finding out again how to shade and add texture. I used to be able to do it straight away, but after three or four years of not using photoshop it takes time to pick things up again. Plus I keep getting error messages- I don’t think Adobe know anyone who still has the programme I’m using, when I looked at a couple of YouTube tutorials the screen appeared different with a black background and far more sophisticated tools, I think I’m going to have to save up and invest!
So this is a little doodle based on an illuminated I. I actually submitted a pen and ink drawing, but there’s nothing wrong with experimenting and learning. In the meantime its hot and muggy and thunderstorms are due!
X.
Bread pudding made, yum!
It was a bit burnt on top. I used half a stale crusty brown loaf, soaked in water overnight. Then I added a cup of dried mixed fruit, and stirred it in to break up the loaf. Then added two eggs, some milk, three teaspoons of sugar substitute, a few knobs of butter and a teaspoon of cinnamon to make a wet mix. I put it in a greased shallow baking dish and baked it in the oven gas mark six (mid temp not too hot). I cooked it for 1 hour and 20 minutes. It came out a bit burnt on top. The bits of crust were nice and crunchy. I served it hot with cream. You could use custard.
One way to use up stale bread. Thanks Frank’s wife for the original recipe.

I have been thinking of friends over in Australia that are being affected by the wild fires. I’m not religious, so I don’t say I pray for them, but I do hope they get rain, even though its the height of summer.
I saw a photo yesterday from the international space station, it showed the extent of the fires. It looked as if the whole country was burning, all at the same time. The photo was a composite over several days and weeks, but people were misunderstanding it. I think that was wrong. If people are going to combat climate change they need accurate data, otherwise reports could be classed as fake news. That would effect the credibility of reporting. The world needs to forget about starting wars and get on with helping the environment.

Warm brown liquid,

roasted and ground.
Squashed into powder,
granulated and freeze dried,
or steaped in hot water

Releasing its caffeine,
Or on my case?
Not.
Decaff.
Bored.

My male cat on his cat tree tray. He finds other places now as it’s not directly over the radiator and he’s got a bit big for it. His sister sits on the other side on a tray directly over the radiator.
I just loved the way he was lying in the hot sun, clearly enjoying the warmth.
Memories of lovely days….

I’m feeling shattered, like broken glass. Just an ache all over. No energy. I hope I feel better soon. Its not sickness I think it’s more that I have tired myself out.
The last few days have been busy, driving and not sleeping well. The heat and humidity are getting to me.
Maybe I’ll write something later. X
We came home yesterday through North Wales. Llangollen to St Asaph, along the A55 where we witnessed a car fire right in front of us. There was a sudden cloud of white smoke, then flames from a tyre. A man and a young girl jumped out onto the hard shoulder while I slalomed to get around cars and a van who pulled up sharply. I checked the Internet last night and it mentioned the resulting tailback of traffic was miles long. I’m glad they seemed to be safe. But on with the trip. From St Asaph there are lots of winding roads and eventually – a steep winding hill and stopping off at a cafe at Llandegla fishery. There we had trout salad and strawberry and cream. Afterwards we decided to have a go at fishing. Not something either of us do. I was happy we were using a rod with a barb less hook and sweetcorn for bait.
Thankfully no fish were harmed. We both got a nibble but gladly neither of us caught anything.
We then drove back via Wrexham and Nantwich. As we got into the Midlands the clouds gathered and the humidity increased.
Neither of us wanted to do anything today but we went out and put up a little exhibition for the day. Now my skin is burning, still feeling the hot sun from our short break.
