Third heatwave in a few weeks
I’m exhausted
Too hot
Found a small fan.
But I wait for the room
To get hot
Before I switch it on.
Then bliss as cool air
Sweeps over me
But don’t want to use
Too much electricity…

Cold was our #bandofsketchers Tuesday prompt.
How to keep cool in hot weather. We don’t have air conditioning so we occasionally use a fan to at least stir the air a bit. I’ve imagined one with ribbons (which would probably get tangled up). Just a quick felt pen sketch.

What’s that?
flat cap and fan
drying the hat
when
up on the moors
rain soaked
now home again
sodden cap
woollen tweed
smells of sheep
lanolin
lichen coloured
hat of farmer, vet, miners cap
now repaired
where the pick axe hit
while it hung on a tree…
old and wizened
like him….

It was so hot today after we had been out to meet some friends (who didn’t turn up) that when we got in and sat down I was too hot and tired to switch the fan on. Its on now and when I cool down a bit more I will get the bottle of frozen water I have in the freezer and put it in front of the fan.
It’s about 30°C and I’m hot, even my toes are sweating! Very humid, more thunderstorms due this evening….
For now I’m trying to chill, relax, and rehydrate. My skin is a bit burnt, August!
