Sheepish

I like the swirls that make up the wool on the stone sculpture. It’s funny how patterns affect me. I get bored of plain, sleek lines, but I don’t like overly fussy patterns either. Greek Key patterns, yes, and Paisley patterns, and spirals. But if the shapes are disjointed, like things are either too big or small, then I’m not as keen on it.

I also like the black and white filter on the picture, it makes the picture bolder. The bright sunlight bleaching out some of the detail adds to the effect.

Square sheep

It looks like its been baked in a bread loaf tin. This is a copy of one of those paintings that they did in olden times to emphasise how much wool the sheep could grow I think. There are definite exaggerations in its size.  And a small head and legs. It was fun to try and paint. As it is for a set in an opera it didn’t need to be totally accurate. Took about an hour to paint.
