Into art to dabble
Seeking nothing
Finding fun
Doodled

New paintings and regular art updates.

I’ve been working on my MA project Al day and it’s driving me mad. I have one image that will save as a .Tif file but not as a .Jpeg, no matter what I do I get a notification that the file is not supported or something. All the rest are fine. I have both sorts of files so I can put them into a website that will print a one off book for you! Argh!

Another late night experiment. I added the pink and red this morning, when I could see their colours clearly. Drawing under electric light means colours are not as easily perceived. The yellow cast of the light made it hard to decide what colours were on the felt pens. Pinks and oranges looked very similar. Why hearts? Just because the shapes I had drawn suggested them and I wanted a soft contrast to the strong black and white shapes.

Drawing I did at an old website called Sketchfu nine years ago. Sadly it closed down a few years ago. The tools were very simple, but that made it easy for artists to use. I was pleased how this digital sketch came out. If I find more drawings I will share them.

Flying up into the sky
She was scared, that’s no lie!
Round cliff edges in flight
And around the lighthouse, bright
They swiftly rose up very high!
My dragon story is coming on. But I’m trying to write 16 limericks to go with it (perhaps more). Each one will relate to a page that has a black and white ongoing illustration of the story. At the moment I’m trying to decide on a good clear font for the writing which will be visible against any illustration. There will also be colour illustrations of the dragons scales. This poem and image are part of the book so I have to say that they are covered by copyright and should not be copied or shared without my permission. Im just giving you an idea of what I have been up to ( bad limericks included!)

Chasing, running
Playing, jumping
Pouncing, leaping
Happy, racing
Running fast
Speedy paws
Get that toy!
Pounce on the mouse!
So much catnip!
Cheeky face!

Hubby grabbed the Dalek arm so it could not shoot at me. Well not really. This character from the Sci-fi series ‘Dr Who’ was on display in the foyer of the Potteries Museum and Art gallery so of course I had to take a photo. The TV series has been on and off the BBC over about fifty years! It’s amazing how the show has such longevity, but then it could be because the ‘doctor’ of the title can regenerate and turn into a new person. In the meantime ii hope it doesn’t say ‘Exterminate!’.

Digital drawing I did six years ago. I think in the sketcher free app and then I used the layout app on my phone. I’ve tried several art apps but I can’t keep all of them on my phone because I still haven’t increased the memory on it. I don’t want to lose my images if they get deleted by accident. I could imagine this being a tapestry or embroidery.

It’s raining folks!
Heavy rain that splashes
Wet rain that soaks
Cloudbursting showers
That fall with a splat!
Water from heaven
Falls on the ground
Seeps down below it
By tree roots, found.
Spring needs it’s water
For flowers to grow
But why must it fall in lumps?
I really don’t know!

Playing with Artrage oils app. It’s a finger painting. I must find my stylus as I think that might help. I like the combination of blue/ red/green and purple. You can set different brushes, dry and wet, different flows ans also make the ‘paint’ more or less metallic. The less metallic settings allows a lighter colour. Try it for free. Have fun x
