Abstract called feathers.

Many digital processes, I won’t list them. I use the same apps, just over and over so that you get different effects each time you add a layer. I think it looks like a flurry of feathers after a pillow fight! Or even fireworks exploding. I used a blur tool to get the fuzzy effects.

Cats

I must do more ‘real’ or analogue art. I mean physical art, not digital drawing or photography. I loved doing these lino cuts as part of my MA final major project. I liked trying to learn a new skill. I could also create cards for sale by doing this. I would maybe use acrylic paints instead of ink? Then I could play with the colours. And by using a lino cut twice but by offsetting the print slightly I could get interesting fringes of colour around the images. Lots of ideas. I just need to do them.

Two years ago

Two years ago I was at a workshop. I was making a peice of a flag to celebrate Philip Astley inventor of modern circus born 1742, in Newcastle under Lyme. Belinda Latimer ran the workshop. Good fun to try a different craft. I don’t do much sewing or embroidery so this was quite enjoyable. I used a sacking type of cloth on top of a type of canvas cloth. I never did see the finished flag as there were different workshops to bring it all together.

Today’s exhibition

Two boards I had paintings on today. I also had a table with small paintings, jewellery and prints. I sold a few pieces which was good and I think I got a good reception from people. Overall most people in the group seemed to have a good day. It was quite busy all day from when we opened to the last few minutes. It was also good chatting with artists and finding out bit more about their work. I’m tired but happy.

Process

Series of digital finger paintings and photo edit to show how I created the eye drawing in my last post. I used artrage oils to start, then a flood fill in rainbow colours and a black pen and black flood fill in my sketch app. Finally added the texture with a style then grime option in Photodirector.

Cat amongst the plants

Houseplants and the cat sitting in a box. He looks so comfortable. He sits here in the afternoon when the sun comes in through the window. It’s a lovely sight. Now that the weather is improving he goes and lies in the neighbours garden in the grass which is about a foot high. He comes in when the sun starts to set behind the high privet hedge. I think I would like to be a cat, no responsibility, food at regular intervals. Care and attention. I love this little cat.

Contours

Digital drawing

One of the patterns I created for my final major project. It was to introduce the idea of abstract art to children within a story book. Each page in black and white tells the story. The opposite page is based on patterns in the environment or the scale patterns of dragon scales. Colours in juxtaposition to strong black and white figurative drawings. If you follow my blog you will know about the book I’m thinking of publishing. I know I’m going on about it but I feel passionate about it.

Cat and cat painting

One of our cats and a painting my hubby did of another cat thirty or forty years ago. He has his own unique style, I wish he would do more of them. We both love our cats so it’s nice to be able to share a picture that hubby has created.

Think the cat was comfy on our bed. He goes up there and curls up where it is warm and quiet. I don’t blame him!
