New paintings and regular art updates.

Today’s college workshop, we had to create an image from random bits of things we had around us. I made a motorbike with mine! Can you see it?
Post it notes and bits of monoprinted paper, and a bit of maroon tissue paper as a bit of foliage. Is that a small white wheel at the front or a square orange wheel? Green handlebars, pink headlight. Black and white seat.

By duplicating and flipping one side of the couple of photos I ended up with an interesting structure (in reality next doors small extension bathroom). The hanging baskets and pots pop with green and bright flowers. As they grow and bloom I will post more pictures (and include more if the rain stops!). Summer is here so they should take up more space. Gardening and rain, a typical British summer.
Sky seen a few weeks ago up at the Croft at Thistley Hough. I can’t really say more than it was a beautiful sunset.

The sky looked like it was on fire, and the red reflecting off the purple ad blue clouds just added to the drama. The silhouettes of the trees and the fence and ground added to it.

Washed sky
Below tree
Above bluebells
And soil.
Laced branches
Overlap ripples
Twisted leaves
Tie flowers
In knots
Brown soil
Gently wrapped
In moss?
Layers of colour

Immersed.

So many flowers in one place, the Quarry garden at the Dorothy Clive Garden was particularly beautiful. There is a waterfall feature there and the sight of it amongst the Azaleas and Rhodedendrons was lovely. The water cooled the air and the colours in the sunlight were like jewels.

I took far too many photos, I will share more later. There is a laburnum walk which I will post about seperatley.

When you look out the window and wonder what to do with a long, multicoloured mobile that twirls in the wind. I took a zoomed in, pixilated shot of it, then put it through photodirector to add texture and tipped it from the vertical. I think it looks like the photo has been taken through textured glass. I like the wrinkled, dappled effect.

Then Tuesdays #bandofsketchers prompt was architectural. My go to view when I don’t feel like going out is the Portmeirion factory across the road. I used black acrylic monoprint on white printing paper to give it texture and shadow. Then drew over the top and added a bit of pink post-it note.
Such nice spring flowers. Bright, colourful, petals like satin. Soft and shapely. It’s no wonder that there was a tulip frenzy a few centuries ago. Tulips with colours that look like flames due to a virus. A single tulip bulb could cost more than a house. I think this was in Holland. My favourites are the dark coloured ones, deep magenta or purple, almost black.
Yes tulips are one of my favourites. You have to remember to plant them deep enough about double the depth of the bulb I think? They tend to fade a bit in their second year but they give a good show if planted in drifts.

Had no idea what to do so drew the pattern on my trousers that is black and white but then added colour for today’s #bandofsketchers prompt. It’s not very good but it’s definitely different to what I’d normally do!
