Drawing cats

Digital drawing of a cat that I drew a few years ago on sketchfu. I drew a series of these about the adventures of this cat. I imagined him getting up to all sorts of tricks, balancing on washing lines, chasing goldfish, stealing steaks from neighbours kitchens. I don’t know where the other old drawings went. I have had to change my computer a couple of times when it crashed so they may be lost for good.

I really need to save things to a seperate hard drive, the trouble is I have so many images, I don’t know how to store them….

Cat on a bag

Why do cats like sitting and or lying on things? This is a blue carrier bag with a couple of fish on it saying save our seas, I think he just likes it because its soft. He also likes the washing basket, my rucksack, a cardboard box or two, the arm of the settee, and especially my hubby’s clothes when he’s got undressed ready for bed. The cat sleeps wherever he wants.

Cat got out!

Loud rattling at the cat flap! Something trying to get in…. I went to open the door, but there was just darkness. I went back to preparing out evening meal. Then. More rattling. I went to the door and opened it, our boy cat was outside in the dark, trying to get back in. He dashed into the kitchen and proceeded to give me the biggest headbump ever. Just pleased to see me.

Talking to hubby, we decided he must have sneaked out when hubby went out to put some food in the shed for the hedgehogs.

My box, hooman

This box?
Not too small at all….

When a small train arrived this morning for my hubby he took it out of its packaging in a flash. Discarding the box it came in. Boy cat pounced on it and tried to get in!

Much amusement and a few photos later! Here he is, the cat on the mat in the box. Box squashed flat! My hubby is pleased with the trains and the cat with the box. Win-win!

I apologise for using the term ‘hooman’ I see it when people post about cats. I guess it’s a fashion thing. Do you think it’s a bit too cutesie?

Might be worth reading Cat watching by Desmond Morris.

Today’s challenge ‘Soft’

The second challenge set by our new sketching group ‘band of sketchers’ was ‘Soft’, not easy, until I saw my cat sitting in front of a big soft bag. Plus a mat she was sitting on. Its a pencil sketch with some black ink fine line pen work. It’s hard drawing moving cats. They have a tenancy to shift position just when you want to draw their eyes, or the position of their paws. I could have taken a photo but I wanted to draw direct from life.

He’s in!

Progress! The abandoned cat got up courage and came inside the backdoor this afternoon to have something to eat. He’s gradually getting confident enough to trust us. My boy cat went out again this morning, not far, he’s very nervous of strange noises that make him jump. It’s a balance but I hope all three (including our girl cat) can integrate together.
