I was in my studio trying to paint the swirls of clouds near the poles of Jupiter photographed by the Juno probe.
Now I’m staying home most of the time to stay safe. I want to go back but I don’t want to see people if I can avoid it. I will go back, hopefully when I’ve had the vaccine.

I saw this as a little dalek (it’s an alien from Dr Who) which is a BBC sci-fi series that started in the 1960’s. Its actually a washing up bottle with the cap up! It’s going to ‘exterminate’ grease and food waste. The windowsill is covered with indoor house plants, I like the curves of the bowls and their fawn colour against the blue of the tiles.

I was looking out the window at about 4.15pm and the sky was purple pink. I know the sun was setting, but I did think for a minute that it might snow. It’s been a cold Christmas day and we are due a storm from tomorrow night with possible gusts of wind of about 60 miles per hour. Its due to be even windier on the coast. I had thought of going for a boxing day walk but I don’t know if that will happen now

Trying to draw Frost from my memory. Not easy. I couldn’t get the feathery patterns that it makes. Drawn in ArtRage oils. Working between metallic and non metallic white on a blue background.
I remember going to bed in the cold. The Frost built up inside the windows. Our breath condensing on the glass. I was on the window side of the room (I shared with my sister) and the curtains were thin and yellow. Behind them a wide windowledge, then wooden window frames with curly cast iron handles to open them. I’d look out on freezing nights and see ‘Jack frost’ on the panes. If it was really cold we were allowed to put the one bar electric heater on until we got in bed under eider downs and our school macs to keep warm under. I’d often sleep with my coat over my head. Breathe warm air on my hands and try and stop shivering. We only got double glazing to our n family home after I’d left for college I think….

Reasonably early in the morning, for once a bit of blue sky peeping through. Giving me the feeling that the sky has been washed clean. My windows need cleaning so they are covered in specks of dust and dirt. I’m sure a bird has flown into it a while ago, there is a dusty mark… At the village hall I once saw the outline of a pigeon that had hit a window. Birds have a sort of dust on them that helps protect their feathers. That’s what leaves a mark….

Painting I did of the gaseous swirls of one of Jupiter’s polar regions. The photos were taken by NASAs Juno probe. I was amazed at the colours and patterns on that fantastic world and had to have a go..
It’s a large acrylic on canvas. I think I painted it two years ago and it was included in an exhibition called ‘blue’ at Spode Studios, Eleanora Street, Stoke-upon-Trent, which is one of the six towns that make up the city of Stoke-on-Trent.

Blue splodge
Favourite colour
Used on a butterfly
That flew away
Holly blue
Or another?

A photo of a glass ornament of a cat with a gold fish modeled inside it. I grow lots of plants on our windowledges and also collect bottles so it’s a bit messy I know. The plant is a fern and now it’s getting cooler it’s dropped some of its leaves. I need to clean it up but it’s really huge and I don’t want to damage it. I also like the textures on the clear glass and blue glass bottles. I might paint a still life of it. I like the way the light is illuminating all the glass and the way the cats head is acting like a lens.

Another digital drawing done at sketchfu a few years ago (site now closed). This was a drawing challenge. Artists would post photos and then challenge others to draw the image just using the sites simple tools. I don’t know if the original picture was photographed with ultraviolet light or with blue dye injected into the flowers.
