Waiting room gallery sketch, for today’s #bandofsketchers prompt ‘waiting’. Bit wobbly as my left hand was shaking as I held the sketchpad and phone.
Then I experimented with variations using my phone photo editor and photodirector. Using different techniques to give different effects to the image.
We visited again today to see how things are going at the Waiting room gallery. Things are happening, there are new people helping to organise the gallery spaces and it looks like they are going to have a sales /shop area and seperate exhibition space both downstairs and upstairs. The Gallery is still linked with the work going on at Longport Station to restore it. I hope that it all happens soon and without delays to their plans. I will write more as I find out what is happening.
Longport Station isn’t open to the public at the moment but it is a small station between Stoke and Manchester. It was once part of the LMS line (London Manchester and Scottish line).
Splash your colour everywhere
Brighten the world
Pink and red and yellow
Purple and orange too.
Spring is here
The world is green
But tulips
Give the world joy.

My ageing left hand. Monoprint in black acrylic of my right hand, then drew round my left hand on top of that, cut it out, stuck a couple of post it notes on the page underneath and shaded with felt pens, then stuck the hand down and added black ink texture to it.
Finally got round to drawing something at five am today! Cylindrical chimneys on a building opposite Stoke Station. I took the photo on Thursday but then had a fall and hit my head. Spent four hours in Accident and Emergency. I’m fine, the pavement is probably dented!
Then Tuesdays #bandofsketchers prompt was architectural. My go to view when I don’t feel like going out is the Portmeirion factory across the road. I used black acrylic monoprint on white printing paper to give it texture and shadow. Then drew over the top and added a bit of pink post-it note.
And the road goes ever on… Black acrylic monoprint spiral. I was remembering a song or poem from the Hobbit by Tolkien. Bit abstract but fun…I haven’t slept much tonight so thought I would catch up with some #bandofsketchers pictures. This was last Sundays prompt, road
A friend died a while ago and I didn’t know that a memorial plaque had been attached to the weeping willow in the Spode Rose Garden.
The plaque is screened by the trees foliage, so when I saw a pale disc on the trunk, I assumed it was a branch that had been cut off, but no, it was a memorial. I was saddened because I hadn’t remembered him with everything that had happened over the last year. He was a lovely person and a brilliant artist. Farewell.

Using a sketching app on my phone. And trying to give the face more sharpness and character than a generic idea of a face. I’m being influenced by other artists here including Robin King and stoneronarollercoaster.
