We have come to the end of the semester at college but have been asked to create a new way of illustration over the holidays. So what do I do? I’m thinking of boiling some spaghetti and trying to colour it then manipulate it? Or getting some play sand and drawing with that. It’s not something an illustration would normally be made of, but why not?
How amazing to think that a vaccine is coming out for Covid19. If only fake news had not run like a virus through the Internet. There are also fears from other vaccinations in the past. The doctor who linked MMR vaccination to autism and who was discredited over it has not helped matters. At the end of the day we need to listen to scientists and experts. Yes we should ask intelligent questions, but this is a chance to get the ‘R’ number down below 1.
How would it have been if Edward Jenner had worked out how to inoculate people against Smallpox only to be told that he couldn’t use it to save lives? What about all those other viruses out there that used to kill people or make them seriously ill? If they didn’t die people sometimes had to survive in Iron Lungs when they had Polio. Now a new disease needs us to accept a vaccine that may not cure it but could be a game changer.
I ddrew the green spike of our amaryllis plant and romised to post a photo. This was the first of four flowers on the spike. They came and went over a week. But as they faded another flower spike has grown up! Soon two or more flowers should be bursting out. I will try and take a better photo this time.
I have three old plants but they haven’t grown up yet. I think they need more water and our house is probably too dry at the moment.
Martha Kennedy is well known for her blog about life and her dogs. She’s a writer and artist. I had to share this post because of our recent acquisition of an outdoor cat x
Top to bottom: Nigel, Fred, Reggie, Vyger. The palm tree was painted by a student in the middle of the night. He didn’t want to go back to Switzerland and THAT was his statement. We’d lived in this house a year when this photo was taken.
I like cats as much as I like dogs. For a few years in San Diego I was a crazy cat lady, known by the local Mexican kids as, ‘La bruja de los gatos.” It wasn’t exactly my choice to have ten+ cats. I wanted TWO cats. Soon after we bought the crack house we fixed up, the Good X and I went to Animal Control and picked out a little Siamese we named Chada and a beautiful Russian blue we named Fred.
We had NO idea what we’d actually done.
Chada was an aloof creature and Fred was gregarious. Once outside the door…
And now I’ve tried doodling in another app. This is meant to be an Elf? I guess for Christmas. I can draw faces from life and from photos . But from my imagination? I’m out of practice, especially on digital devices. I quite like this, its in the ArtRage app and I like the metallic effect you can get. But again, I’m lacking in knowledge of how it works, I’m not proficient yet.
Does anyone like drawing digitally? Have you got any tips or have I got to go and look at a lot of YouTube videos to learn? I ask because I learn by playing, but then don’t know basic skills like how to use layers in photoshop properly….
Quick doodle, trying to learn how to use a sketching app, but I haven’t used this device for several months, I usually use my phone. I can’t quite work out the settings on the app. But as a basic little doodle I guess its OK. I must practice on this more.
Spoon on a chair throw. My version of shiny… My drawing for today’s #bandofsketchers prompt.
Drawn with felt pens and permanent marker pens. Why a spoon? It was an opportunity to draw the bowl of the spoon and the way the reflections curve round it. The handle is a bit wonky, but not bad. Reasonably happy with it.
Reasonably early in the morning, for once a bit of blue sky peeping through. Giving me the feeling that the sky has been washed clean. My windows need cleaning so they are covered in specks of dust and dirt. I’m sure a bird has flown into it a while ago, there is a dusty mark… At the village hall I once saw the outline of a pigeon that had hit a window. Birds have a sort of dust on them that helps protect their feathers. That’s what leaves a mark….
