Taking a walk

I only did a short walk of two and a half miles today. But in my defence my knees and feet are sore and I still walked uphill. I’m on day 33 of my #100daywalkingchallenge, basically about a third of the way through it. I’ve learnt that five miles is about my limit at the moment. Going uphill is somehow easier on my knees than walking downhill. I’ve managed to jog slightly. I like watching the world change as the days lengthen (but are getting colder again). That it’s easier to do two short walks than one long one. And that I can manage without travelling miles in the car as long as I get out and about (oh, and with the car door playing up, so I can’t always unlock it from the outside, it’s a good job I can walk!)

Portrait group tonight…

Tonight we had to sketch each other in hats. I decided to use post it notes as a background, with graphite stick and black ink calligraphy pen. My mistake was not to glue the squares down, so as these were five minute sketches I had to glue before I coukd draw! One if them I deliberately didn’t stick down so I could move the pieces around after I’d finished drawing….

Embroidery and illustration

Just been to an embroidery workshop online. I had a go at backstitch, running back stitch, chain stitch and French knots. I was trying out the whipped back stich. The paper was too thin so I glued on some post it notes and used a black line so the thread stands out better.. Messy but fun.. The cotton got tangled up so I decided to leave it till tomorrow.

My hubby is a windmill and the cat and he snore…

When you go to bed you don’t expect your hubby to start waving his arms about, in the middle of some nightmare. Then he turns over and starts snoring. Meanwhile a cat has snuck onto your chest, pinning you down, claws on his front sticking in you and a blissful heavy breathing, snoring…. Grr, so I got up, made a decaff coffee, drank it, warmed up a bit, and finally at 6am fell asleep. Then woke up in pain, my hubby using my shoulder as a pillow again! Grr, zzzzzz
