Or bubble wrap….
World wrapped in packaging
In yards or meters of soft, slithering, veils.
Plastic permiates
Plastic stifles
Plastic swallowed
Blocking guts
Strangling
Plastic smothers
It won’t go away.
Like an infinite being
Never-ending nightmare.

Ivy leaf pelagoniums and a gazenia (not sure of spelling). We saw them for sale at a florists in Wolstanton, Newcastle-under-Lyme today. I decided to get them as the weather is changing and I want to extend the flowering season in the garden. We also got some cyclamen including normal ones, and some called petticoat cyclamen which are more splayed out than the original type. I picked up a red sedum too.
It’s heading towards autumn now. I noted a tinge of broken or red on some of the trees as we were driving over to Wolstanton. It will be here soon. The nights are drawing in too.
When we got home I popped to the shops. While I was there I was tempted and grabbed a box of mixed tulip bulbs, and another one of various small flower bulbs. Gardening is a wonderful occupation. Try it if you can.
Just saw something flying over the house in the night sky. Four really strange star shaped objects, glowing, shedding sparkling light as they drifted across the sky. Glittering and shimmering. Beautiful and obtuse. No signals from them, neither radio nor radiation. They are still visible on the Eastern horizon. I decided to follow them in my car. I realised how hard it is to drive and watch the sky though! Several near misses later and I was driving along a dark road into the countryside. The star shards were lower in the sky, loosing altitude..
How much further? Holographic shimmers, suddenly stopping abruptly in a dark field?
I climbed over the style, up the hill towards a high hedge, eyes accustomed to the dark, I saw….
Not UFOs but four holographic star shaped balloons, tied with ribbon, stuck in a tree!
Now to try and find my way home……
We posted a full size bike (minus its wheels), today. It was a racing bike, but with mudguards so we had to unscrew the back mudguard and twist it tound because it made the bike too long for the box. Then we rotated the handlebars downwards so they didn’t stick out at the side too much (we had tied then at 90 degrees to how they are when you ride) ideally we should have taken off the pedals but we roughly bubble wrapped. So the box is bulging… We also had to take off the saddle. The saddle stem is sticking up a bit so its covered in tape. The whole thing is a bit ramshackle.
Finally we shoved it in the car and drove round into town. We unloaded it out of the and started to carry it 100 yards and round the corner to the post office – which was closed and shuttered!!!!
Grr…. So we drove a few miles to another post office which was open. Bit of a bonus really, the original post office had quoted £30 for next day delivery. But this one quoted £16.50 for second class, arriving next Wednesday. Why not, cheaper and there is no rush.
Dragon breath burns
So scales must be thick and strong
They must be impervious to flame.
Neither touched by fire
Or scorched by smoke.
Dragon scales are close fitting
Letting no sword or arrowhead in.
Dragon scales fit with no sags or bulges.
Metallic and shimmering.
Orchid view. Through the window hubby is fixing the tricycle. The ariel roots from the orchids are spreading out far and wide. Some of the flowers on the large orchid are dropping, but they have been there for months. I’m hoping that is sends out another flower spike soon.
I might try repotting it carefully this time. I repotted another one and I think I over filled it with orchid compost. I think you have to leave the ariel roots some free space.
How big is Earth’s diameter? Just under 8,000 miles. How big is its circumference? Just under 25,000 miles. That’s not very big really. There are statistics saying how many Earth’s fit into Jupiter, the biggest planet in the Solar System, or even how many Earth’s would fit into the size of the Sun.
What I’m trying to say is, this is the third planet from the Sun, in the habitable region of the system (not too hot or too cold) and we need to look after it. We are using up its resources at an alarming rate, polluting our home world with plastics and toxic waste, killing off the insects including bees with insecticides and heating it up till the North and South polar icecaps are severely effected and melting rapidly. Why are we doing this? Are we, like Covid19, like a virus, impacting on our host, the Earth.

I remember Walsall illuminations over the years. We went most years as children, it was always wonderful to wander through the Arboretum, a huge park in Walsall. The lights as we called them usually ran from September and the leaves that were starting to change, were lit with coloured lights, some of the light displays were brought in from Blackpool. The beauty was that you could walk through the park, eventually coming out by the boating lake where you could see a spectacular light show, especially in later years when they used lasers and fountains. Part of the charm was that they kept some of the tableau for years. Like the clock family. These were clock shaped with legs and arms and the hour and minute hands formed the faces. They were fibre glass and painted bright colours. With bulbs placed in them to light them. There was always a fair on in the park so children could go on the rides and have candy floss. It’s ten years since ‘cost cutting’ closed them down. So sad……
Today’s #uskstoke challenge was to draw something to do with restrictions. The box is being posted up to Lancashire with a bike frame as we can’t deliver it directly to hubbies brother. So I think this counts? Pencil sketch, 6b, on an A6 cartridge pad. Tried to do the writing on the box as neatly as I could. X
We contacted our local bike shop because my hubby wants to send his old bike frame to his brother so that it can be tidied up and restored a bit. If we were not nervous about going to visit hir brother, and they were not under a local lockdown, we would have taken it in the car. But no, we can’t travel there as we would not be allowed back!
So this is a HUGE box to put the frame in. It’s about six foot by four? It’s sitting in the living room because it’s too wet to pack it up at the moment. No doubt the cats will try and get in… Sending cats to Lancashire? Not likely!
