I decided to write a verse Which might seem rather perverse.. I'm learning the ropes For knowledge I grope. About WordPress block editor And I might need a mediator? It's like very heavy rain It can be an absolute pain! Storm clouds gather I'm in a lather Maybe I should write this again? Is there anything at all to gain.....
Upright bottle oven somewhere near the canal in Burslem, from a photo I took on a walk with the closer to home group on Saturday. I didn’t have time to stop and read the sign about it as I was at the back of the group. Today’s #bandofsketchers prompt. Metallic silver pen, metallic colours, dried up black felt pens, black felt pen, charcoal stick.
I started with all good intentions this morning and wrote about 500 words of a 4000 word project I’ve got to do for my illustration course. But then things got in the way. We had an avalanche of carrier bags (my hubby buys them all the time). I put them by the washing machine but today they all slid down onto the floor. Cue a lot of folding and an offer to take them to the local food bank.
Then the cat decided she wanted a cuddle, she jumped up on the keyboard and knocked me out of the page I was on.
Hubby wanted to chat… Shuddup! Then Microsoft decided it wanted me to verify who I was before it would let me back into Word? What, how do you do that. I was halfway through a paragraph, had gone to have something to eat and came back to that!
I have just been asked to put these necklaces in the waiting room gallery in Longport, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire. They will be for sale over the next few weeks. I already have some small paintings on display there. The Waiting Room gallery can be found online on Facebook.
One has already been sold. I hope people like them.
Frodo, drawn on a website called sketchfu a few years ago.
I liked it because it had simple tools to draw with, but you could get reasonable results. Unfortunately it was closed down a few years ago. I think the owners were overwhelmed by the amount of chat on it, the art started to become secondary to people writing fan fiction and stories, the site was getting full and they couldn’t afford to extend it. Then they started up a new site called Muzy and Sketchfu seemed to be forgotten. In the end I managed to save a lot of my drawings before the whole thing was closed down. It was very sad, a lot of people lost a lot of art that they had spent a lot of time over.
Not sure what plant these pods are on. I just found the photo on my memories, I must have taken it because it was interesting. To be honest it’s not a good photo, so it could easily be deleted. Maybe that’s frost? I shall try and find out what it us. Might be good to try and grow it again.
We went for a walk last week and saw a fox carved into an old tree stump. Unfortunately the photo I took didn’t turn out (memory problem on my phone). I spoke to the person whose garden it was in and he told us the artist who had done it.
I decided to enquire about a carving, I have an idea of either an owl, a fox, or even a green man being carved into it. I’ve passed on my details and the size of the tree. Maybe in a few weeks I’ll be posting photos of a sculpture.
One of tonights choir group, each week I’ve been drawing a participant as they sing. It’s good practice as they are moving and the shadows move with them. If you notice the image is slightly distorted. That’s because I had the sketchpad flat on my desk and it’s caused a slightly elongated drawing that is tipped slightly to the right…
It’s something to check on when you are drawing, sometimes it can cause a lot of distortion if you are not careful.
Blurry photo in the garden, freezias in a big blue pot. I need to do some weeding, we have too much ivy spreading across the ground and random bits of blackberry bushes that are thorny. Nettles are welcome in the garden for butterflies but they keep encroaching into the flower beds.
Spent the afternoon in the garden weeding and helping drill a hole in our garden gate for a padlock and chain (we are still upset by having the motorbike stolen and want to make it more secure). Also did a bit of college work… Better do more!
That’s what we are for our outdoor cat. He sleeps all night then grabs his breakfast and rushes out of the door around dawn. Sometimes he stays in for longer. He has the best of both worlds, freedom to roam and warmth and food when he wants it. I’m not sure what will happen if we ever go on holiday.
He eats as much as he wants, drinks what he wants, sleeps where he wants. Lucky cat!
