I do love celtic style art, and I love horses too, but sometimes the complicated patterns are mind boggling. Trying to copy them freehand is just so difficult. Perhaps when I drew this I could have done a third as a template and then copied the pattern for the other two thirds? Or using one of the tools that allow you to draw daisy type patterns digitally. Maybe I will try.

Speedy snail 🐌

Thursdays #bandofsketchers prompt was slow so I decided to draw a speedy snail after watching wheelchair racing at the Paralympics. I used the pink and green ink that had bled trough from the other side of the page together with fine black ink pen to indicate a wind or breeze. I guess I could have drawn a couple of leaves being blown about in it or the snails eye stalks being blown back? Do they have four eye stalks… .
Cats eye

Our cat has been to the vets and was kept in overnight. He’s home but among other problems he’s got an ulcer on and inside his eye, it looks very cloudy. He’s on antibiotics and two types of drops. All have to be given at different times (one eye drop four times a day, one eye drop three times a day) antibiotics every twelve hours….
He’s also damaged his soft palette, possibly trying to bite his way out of where he was trapped?
And then his kidney functions are off. I hope he will recover. We will know more after the weekend…
Art lunch

Abstract strawberry and drawing of a strawberry. Done at an art lunch my friend organised at the warehouse at Etruria Industrial Museum. Just a chance to meet up with some artists I haven’t seen for months. It was good to see them in the flesh!
What to do next? Think about getting involved with community groups, I’m not good at networking so this is a good thing for me. It gets me to think about my artistic life.
Broccolli

Tuesdays #bandofsketchers prompt was vegetable. I looked at broccolli, the fractal sort where it spirals into points. But I just could not draw it. So I decided to draw the normal stuff with a knife to cut it.
Structure

I never waste things if I can help it. These castellated bits of paper are actually the off cuts from the ends of perforated sheets of paper. It’s where I have cut pages out of a sketchpad. One of the bits has black ink on it. The image was then mirrored four times in the Layout app I have on my phone. I don’t think I had glued these down, but I used some off cuts like this to turn into a block of flats (apartments) for a college project.
Window view

Abstract ‘window’ for Sundays #bandofsketchers prompt. I did a black and white drawing, then added some cut outs of paper trees. I tried drawing over them because I wasn’t very happy with it. Finally used photodirector to change the texture. The cut out trees were meant to represent net curtains.
Buzzy drawing

Just a doodle of a bee holding the stub of a pencil. It was an idea for a logo. It wasn’t taken up, but I think the artist liked it.
I suppose I could do a whole alphabet using animals or insects and different artists materials…. From an Aardvark holding a paintbrush to a Zebra on a canvas? I don’t know?
Covering
I used the bits of paper from my paper cutouts to add a pattern. Chair and floor coverings…. I quite like the effect…, #bandofsketchers prompt from Thursday.

Keeping my mind occupied….
Digital drawing

I found this on my Facebook memories from a few years ago. The drawing was done in ArtRage oils. It’s a digital drawing done with my finger. Then duplicated in my Layout app that’s attached to Instagram. I thought the resultant colours and image came out rather well.
