The pulse has gone, all is lost. Communication has ended. A dull drone at the end of the phone. A murmuring has slowly died away. No more heat. Soulless sadness. I had to write.
I see your face, but can’t recall it, only imagination holds you in place. Anniversary gone, I must face my own troubles. But I look in the mirror and see your face, then you walk away into the distance, into the light… My sister, goodbye.
Tongue out ready to lick, mucky chin, don’t know where he’s been. He came in after being out. It’s been raining and there’s mud about! Watchful eyes see what’s happening, he knows he’s loved, though he’s bought a smattering of rain and seeds in on his fur. So time to wash so he’s clean and dapper.
Share a lesson you wish you had learned earlier in life.
A few years ago I met a fused glass artist who showed me how to work with glass to create jewellery, bowls and other hand made craft pieces. A friend of mine helped mount the glass with wire weaving.
I wish I had learnt more about it so I could experiment more with glass. This piece was made with dichroic glass which gives it a metallic sheen. I made it into a pendant.
The trouble is that I can’t afford my own kiln so I’m limited in making things at workshops. The original glass artist moved away and it took a while to find another one, I’ve been to a couple of workshops with her and really enjoyed it.
I’m interested in doing other crafts too, like ceramics, but again there is a lot of cost involved. But I am a bit of a jack of all trades (master of none?)
I could have chosen a much more important subject to show how I have learnt from experience, but I’m not in the mood to consider a serious subject today.
Today’s #bandofsketchers prompt was shed. Our shed is painted grey and stuck in a corner covered in ivy and privet and Russian vine. It’s crammed with ‘stuff’ and needs decluttering. We have flower pots by the door.it’s another digital drawing, this time done in my sketchbook app.
Blue and orange are complementary colours. I thought I would use them to shade this drawing of a profile and straight on face. I like the way the two faces almost merge into one. This is a theme that appears quite frequently in art. It’s also something the band ABBA used when singing! They were not using these colours.
What are your favorite types of foods?
I am not allowed much of this delectable delicacy. But it has to be my favourite. I usually say trifle but that’s like a squidgy layered cake. I like individual cakes, chocolate éclairs, apple turnovers, Eccles cakes.
I could list more. I can make a good Victoria sponge, but I would use sweetener instead of sugar to try and make it healthier. I sometimes make marbled cake, that’s where you make the cake batter up then add cocoa or chocolate to half of it. You then gently stir the two halves together so that the colours mingle but don’t mix. When it’s cooked you can see a pattern of marbling in it.
To be honest I didn’t know I knew so much about cake, but it’s not an obsession. I just enjoy it as a treat.

Or as I remember it “floccynoccynillylipification” which is apparently the longest non technical word.
What does it mean? I’ll tell you in a bit…
I couldn’t remember how to spell it, but it lingers in the mind. I must have found it when I was little (I also learnt the Greek Alphabet off by heart from the dictionary) (alpha, beta, gamma, delta, epsilon, zeta, eta, theta, iota, kappa, lambda, mu, nu, xi, omicron, pi, roh, sigma, tau, upsilon, phi, chi, psi, omega) these may be wrong I just dragged them up from my memory.
By comparing these two things I don’t mean to indicate that the Greek Alphabet is useless! The root of many words can be traced back to the Greek Alphabet. And floccinaucinihilipilification is apparently made up of five Latin words strung together. No this post is about memory, in particular my silly and strange brain.
According to the Cambridge dictionary it means “the act of considering something to be not at all important or useful – used mainly as an example of a very long word”
It’s also considered to mean “worthless”. I hope you don’t think this post is?!

Thinking of things to draw. I sketched this blue bird using a stylus again. I love the control that it’s giving me. This is using the Artrage app on my phone. It’s about to take flight. Using various tools gives it a more textured effect. I could have copied a photo and made it more realistic, but this way I can use my imagination.
