Cat on the bath

She always greets me in the bathroom. Follows me in there. She drinks out of a glass on the edge of the bath. She prefers that to a bowl on the floor. I don’t know why she has this foible, but it’s her choice.

She also likes playing with dripping water, I’ve left the tap on a trickle and she will put her paw into the drips then lick it. It’s fun to see her playing around with it. She is a beautiful tuxedo cat, very shiny fur, neat and tidy and sweet. She also plays football with a little stripey ball, dribbling it between her paws. Such a playful cat.

What place is furthest from the sea in Britain?

Coton in the ElmsThe village that is further from the sea than any other human settlement in the UK isΒ Coton in the Elms,Β Derbyshire. One kilometre south-east is Church Flatts Farm, which is 113km (70 miles) from the nearest point on the coast, or 72km (45 miles) from the nearest tidal water.

This came up in conversation so I googled it. I’m not sure if anyone’s interested but I thought I would share it.

Rainbow

After the rain, the rainbow. The base of it was really bright. The rain came down so hard and fast, a river of water came down the hill. The forecast is for possible thunderstorms tomorrow following the arrival of ex hurricane Epsilon in the North Atlantic. There have already been strong winds and the leaves have been flying off the trees. Autumn has arrived with a bang!

Empty paint mug

I use the same glass mug as a water container when I’m painting acrylics or watercolour and I just decided to empty and clean it. Not before time by the look of it! I don’t know when I will be using it again, hope it won’t be too long. I need to shake off my down feelings, try and realise I can do things, get past some of my worries. I don’t have to do everything, just make a start….

Reflected

Water is life, falling on the ground, percolating into it, into the cracks between the pavement. Water finds its way through layers of rock and can appear thousands of years later in a spring. Water covers two thirds of the world in oceans and seas. But it is only a thin coat. Most of the world is molten or an iron core, with a mantle of rock floating above. Volcanos erupt around the world, Hawaii is a chain of volcanic islands erupting like a chain of bubbles in the Pacific ocean.

Are there other ‘water worlds’? Maybe Europa, a moon of Jupiter, which is covered in ice, could have oceans of water under its frozen crust.

Big sink

A few months ago I cracked our bathroom sink when I was dusting the bathroom cabinet. I’d knocked an ornament off it and it landed in the sink causing a spiderweb of cracks.

We just had it replaced. I wanted something with edges at the sides to stop water flowing over and onto the floor (hubby likes to splash water a lot). I decided on a square sink with sides, but I didn’t realise how big it was going to be! I laughed when I saw this. It could be a font! Anyway it’s OK, it works, it’s not bad. It’s just a bit big…..

🐬 Dolphin doodle

I was looking at Maori designs for whales and Orcas and saw one for a dolphin. I haven’t copied it but this is similar, with my own spin. I was still thinking of Auntysocials challenge to do something with her black and white piano keys. It won’t be possible to do womething like this without cutting and shaping piano keys. But it’s just an idea. I’m not quite sure why I added the waves. I can imagine the dolphin jumping.

Shouldn’t have added the curly lines to the title. It seems to read dolphik! Or dolphink, oh dear!

Canal walk.

Blue boat.

Hubby is walking to Barlaston in Staffordshire along the Trent and Mersey canal South from Staffordshire. Here is a photo of a blue canal boat that was passing as they walked along. Its at least seven miles so I hope they will be OK as they might be waking back as well if they don’t contact me to give them a lift. I would have walked with them but I did four up and down hill yesterday and my legs, particularly my knees are very stiff today.

Seeing photos like this makes me realise what a green and wet country we live in. We do get droughts but not as seriously as other countries. Waiting for their call….
