Moon photos

My camera phone won’t get a good picture of the moon because it won’t zoom in enough. So I can’t get details. In this case I wanted to get less glare. On auto (final picture), all the foreground is lit and the moon glares out, plus the photo was taken through the kitchen window that needs cleaning. The other three were all taken on manual, again the camera doesn’t have the magnification to show details, but at least the glare is reduced. The first two show the moon peeping out from behind the neighbours roof. One is a slightly lower exposure than the other, at least they are slightly atmospheric. The third one is a fuzzy blob, but you can tell its a round object. It’s had the glare cut out….. Maybe time to get a telescope?

The sun shone eventually…

Looking out of the window this afternoon, the sun came out and the sky cleared. Much more sparkle than my drawing first thing in the morning. Soon the view will clear further when the trees shed the rest of their leaves. Mind you, the rate the ivy is climbing up the wall the window might be covered over!

Tonight is meant to be very cold and the outdoor cat won’t come in, he’s busy running round the garden, but he’s got a warm bed in the shed. Tomorrow it’s due to rain again… No more blue sky….

Today’s prompt is Sky

#bandofsketchers prompt

Got up just before 7 to draw a magnificent dawn? It was still gloomy when I started and because of the low cloud it got lighter, but no sign of the sun!

This is the view east of the house. Willow Bush still in leaf but turning yellow, beyond that the rooves of the shops on the main road and the skeleton of a new building that stopped growing in March. The telephone pole, the Walnut tree we planted twenty five years ago and a Holly Bush below the willow. Used a calligraphy black ink pen and Spectrum Noir metallic coloured pencils. Took about twenty minutes in semi darkness.

Heavy cloud

It went really dark earlier on. Heavy dark grey clouds heading this way, overwhelming the sun. Later a golden ray of sunshine snuck underneath the layer as the sun started to set. The wind was blowing strongly for a few hours but this has now settled. If the sky clears it will get cold as the wind is blowing from the North East.

Why are we so bothered by weather here? Because its almost always changing. You can buy postcards that say if you can see the view wait half an hour and it will rain, and if you can’t see the view it’s already raining!

Rainbow

After the rain, the rainbow. The base of it was really bright. The rain came down so hard and fast, a river of water came down the hill. The forecast is for possible thunderstorms tomorrow following the arrival of ex hurricane Epsilon in the North Atlantic. There have already been strong winds and the leaves have been flying off the trees. Autumn has arrived with a bang!

Gemini

I’m into Astronomy not Astrology, but I do like the symbols that are used, I just tried this out as an idea to symbolise the Gemini ♊ twins. I wanted to capture the feeling of identical and non identical at the same time. I did consider different skin tones and eye colours. This is also female, but I could have drawn male instead. Drawn in ArtRage oils and Sketch apps, it is again an example of digital drawing. I might put it through a few filters and see what results.
