Extras

received_453419378628388

For a laugh earlier in the year me and my hubby agreed to be extras in a local film. We didn’t do much except go into a building for a seance and then come out and drive away. I don’t even know if we will still be in it, we might be on the cutting room floor! But at least we get to see the premiere! I’ve got to go and get some face paint as it’s fancy dress. I’m glad, I don’t want to be recognised. Hopefully it will be a bit if fun…. And the TV people are coming. I might go and hide in a corner!

Circle three

IMG_20191103_170926_730

A cat can curl up here,

Sit on my knee.

Or on the pile of washing,

Curled up and snug.

Dreaming of flying birds.

Thinking of whizzing leaves,

Warm and toasty,

Curled up and snug.

Winter shivers the bones,

Rain drips down necks,

Sun sets early,

Curled up and snug.

Food to eat and water to drink,

Warm and draft free

Thinking of sitting in a tree.

Curled up and snug…..

Painting from the 1980’s

FB_IMG_1567726248076

I have a few images of my old paintings on slides. I would like to get them transferred onto a digital platform before they deteriorate too much. This painting was actually bought by our old MP, Mark Fisher, and I was really proud to have known him. Unfortunately he passed away a few years ago.

It’s funny how you find things and they bring back old memories. This painting was done of a friend. I deliberately tried to alter the angles of the window to make it more atmospheric. I would like to do more portraits if anyone is interested.

Acorns

DSC_2469My hubby collected these from under a huge Oak tree about a month ago and he’s planted them in pots in the garden! About fifty of them. I’m not sure if they will germinate, if they do we will need to find a very large field to plant them in. They can grow with the Walnut saplings that the squirrel has planted in the garden, and the Ash tree saplings, and sycamore saplings that have self seeded. Our garden is turning into a wood. X

Barometer reading

My barometer pressures have dropped from about 1010 yesterday to 970 on my traditional barometer and 959 on my electric weather station. There is always a discrepancy of about 10 (millimeters of Mercury?) between the two.

What is ‘pressure’. Pressure is air pressure, the weight of the air pressing down on us from the top of the atmosphere downwards.

The guage on the traditional barometer has gone from fair (gold pointer) to rain with the black pointer.

How is pressure measured? One ‘bar’ of pressure is the average air pressure at sea level. It’s also measured in millimetres of Mercury.  There was a historical experiment to find out about the air pressure. The experimenters put a tube of  mercury upside down in a glass dish. This can leave a vacuum in the top of the tube. If you have the tube and dish at sea level the Mercury will be at a lowed level in the dish. This is because a larger weight of atmosphere is pressing down. Go up a mountain and the level in the dish will rise, because the air pressure up there is lower (less depth of atmosphere).

There is lots of information on sites like Wikipedia about air pressure. They probably describe how the air circulating in the atmosphere causes areas of low and high pressure. The weather is also influenced by the sea and its temperatures and the heating of the Earth’s surface by the sun.

Now I’m drawing November circles

_20191102_001950

I can’t get over the last months drawing challenge so I’ve started a drawing a day in a circle for November.

The first one was just a car outside our house. Not very exciting. What I think I will do is post the pictures every week or so rather than individual ones.

This made me laugh though, my hubby likes having cool feet. He probably won’t wear shoes till December. I think he’s odd but it’s his choice.

Colour

_20191030_160748

I love colour as you can see.

Colour is the best option for me.

Bright colours are very good.

Not just black and white could

grab my mind…

Without colour I am blind…

I love a spectrum of every hue.

Yellow, red, gold, bronze and blue.

Purple and orange fight to be seen,

Not to mention beautiful green.

So of I will go to paint again.

My palette with new colours, lain.

Ink blot test…

_20191101_161304

You know the inkblot test? Rorschach test? Why does this photo remind me of rabbits doing a Morris dance? Or laying the drums?

Photo of the sunrise about a month ago I think, with overgrown hedge and trees.

I can see ears, eyes, mouth and nose. Mind you I’ve always seen patterns in wallpaper. Sometimes I see a splodge and from then on I can’t get away from the image of Marge Simpsons blue bin, or a horse rearing…. Why? I don’t know.
