New paintings and regular art updates.
Chatting with someone earlier reminded me how I like to doodle horses. I will draw them from photos, but I also enjoy playing about digitally. This was drawn in ArtRage oils free app. It has a slider to change brush sizes and how metallic they look and different brushes including a dry ink, endless oils, and a couple of others. I’m quite pleased with the outcome.
She often looks out watching the cars and vans racing up the hill. Looking at birds flying up to the factory roof, playing with the mobile on the window. Jumping down and clawing my legs under the desk when I go to type things up. This is her territory. She’s upstairs and her brother is downstairs. Both in their individual realms. They sometimes meet to play and chase. She’s a happy cat, she is mistress of all she surveys.
I can’t remember how I created this, I have mirrored and duplicated it, but I can’t remember all the processes it went through. If I tried to do this again I don’t know if I could duplicate it. Memory fails me. I’m not sure how old this is, it just popped up on my phone when I was deleting some large photo files. It’s weird, but I like it.
Digitally drawn at a website called 2draw. I don’t remember much about drawing it except that kits a true reflection of me! I really do have to draw and create. I think the caw is clearly the call of the bird. I’m pleased with the bold colours and expressive lines.

Talking about artefacts, here’s one off my bookcase. It’s a Spectrum pursuit vehicle I think, based on the vehicles in the 1960’s TV show, Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons. I was a fan as a child of Gerry Anderson Supermarionation puppet shows. They including : Four feather falls, Supercar, Fireball XL5Captain Scarlet, Thunderbird, Stingray and then with live action included Joe 90 and UFO and Space 1999. There are probably more. I don’t remember seeing all of them, especially the first two. I think I got into science-fiction from watching them.
Memories cheer me up.
One thing a bit more abstract. Thus is our autumn challenge. Each artist chooses a square and rgen we try and copy it as well as we can. I’ve chosen square two. Once everyone has done a square the picture is put back together and we see the results. Since this Picasso has such strong, bright colours I will probably use permanent markers to draw my square.

I write silly limericks each week on a friend’, Esther Chilton’s, blog. I don’t usually share them here but I thought I would with the one I wrote on her blog last week. I hadn’t been feeling well and I forgot I had written this. I can’t remember the word that we had to base the limerick on, I think it was State, you have a one word prompt. It does not have to be the word you rhyme with, it can sit anywhere within the limerick:
Just look at the state of my hair!
This lockdowns been really unfair
My mane has extended
Far more than intended
From the top to the foot of the stairs!
I hope it made you chuckle. Limericks have a two, two, one pattern, the first two and last line should rhyme and lines three and four are often shorter and have a different pattern to their rhymes.

Rather a painterly effect. The cats fur has an interesting pattern in it. The newspaper layers are defined. The surface of the box has a slight mottled effect. This was all done by using the style tool and choosing effect number two. The background colours add to the composition. I would have liked to get the cat looking more directly at me, but she wasn’t playing tonight! She does like perching on boxes as you can see. I think it looks quite good.
I’m drawing at home with a little group called band of sketchers on Facebook. It’s an offshoot of urban sketchers and it means that I draw at home every couple of days. I avoid going out much these days as I want to avoid coming into contact with people.
One day I will feel better, but for now I’m hiding in my little shell and avoiding coughs and sneezes.
I have enjoyed keeping my drawing skills up. A lot of the sketches are done really fast, but that doesn’t make it any less fun. Our small group are challenging each other to learn new techniques and improving our observation skills.
