Kittens

Two years ago we had four tiny kittens, only a few weeks old, eyes barely open.

So cute…. a few weeks later they were climbing the curtains and up the wood chip wallpaper in the front bedroom. Sneaking downstairs (they were born in the front bedroom). Climbing up inside my trouser legs (ouch). Playing with string, cat toys, a plastic ball with bells in. As their teeth grew they enjoyed charing each other and nipping and pawing waving tails.

The joy of kittens. Unfortunately they grow into full size cats…. But all four  went to good homes. Two boys to one home, two girls to another house. All of them are happy and healthy.

Cat yoga

IMG_20190329_235144_529

I sometimes think yoga should be a cat thing, they seem to be able to move so flexibly, instead of the downward dog you would have the crouching cat. Or the rear leg stretch.

I don’t know about a cat litter squat though!

But that thing when they fall and flip over so they land on all four feet is amazing!

When they run at fast speeds around the room they can leap and turn like lightening. I would take a photo but they move to fast, paws up, back bent into incredible curves.

Jumping and flipping over, landing on their backs with a fierce growl or a gentle purr…..

Talking

The world is full of words

Talk is cheap

Grey green gold gossip

Muddy, murky muttering

Sharp staccato shouting.

Pink pretty pouting purring,

Cracked cramped cackles.

Light lilting, laughing lullabies…

Singing or sonorous sound scapes

Violent verbosity

Quiet qualities of queen’s English.

Extravagant evangelising.

Whispered wailing.

Yes words are cheap and cheerful or cheerless.

Ow my legs

DSC_1831

Ow my legs! Our female cat loves sharpening her claws on my legs, she sticks her claws in my trousers and then arches her back and pulls down. Sometimes she gets flesh too. I found blood trickling down my leg earlier on today. I love her to pieces but as soon as I realise she’s doing it I have to brush her away.

She rushes round and plays all the time. She fights with our boy cat but only in play, she puts a paw on his head or he puts a paw on hers and then she pushes him away with her back legs. One thing neither if them do is the strong fast kicking movement so neither of them get hurt. And they only nip each other, there is no going for the scruff of their necks. Basically it’s like slow motion wrestling followed by fast chasing.

Spelling?

DSC_0595_optimized

Can you spot the mistake? It’s funny how the brain works – writing the word “buidling” instead of “building” is just an example. Apparently if you have all the right letters and the correct first and last letter of the word, your brain can unscramble it. For instance if I write :

The qcuik bowrn fox jmpus oevr the lzay dog?

You should still be able to read it.

Spelling only became regularised when the dictionary arrived. Once the spelling of words was written down with a definition the spelling was more fixed. But spelling is still quite phonetic, based on sound sometimes. For, four, fore all sound the same but have different spellings and meanings.

The example above is more likely to have occurred because of a computer mistake when the author or designer did not proof read the art work.

I guess I make a lot of mistakes too. I do rely on spellchecker but even that gets it wrong sometimes.

Seamus two years ago

FB_IMG_1552955985792

What a change two years make. Seamus was quite a timid cat. It took me ages to coax him out to say hello and I think you can still see caution on his face here – a couple of months after he arrived. He’s much more self assured now. He loves playing catch chase with his sister. Instead of sleeping in quiet corners or under cupboards both of them now sleep on a cat tree or on the back of the sofa in the middle of the living room.

They both will only eat one flavour of one type of cat food, but it is supplimented with treats and they know how to stare so you share food off your plate.

Cat stares

It knows what it wants

It hypnotises you

To share your breakfast

Lunch

Tea

Dinner

Supper..

How do they do it?

With love and telepathy… !

Looking

FB_IMG_1552955998274

I used to spend a lot more time on digital drawings. This one got printed on a mug just for fun. It’s based on cats eyes. I decided to duplicate it in the layout app I have after initially drawing it in ArtRage oils. I don’t quite remember how I managed to draw the details, probably using my computer tablet not my mobile phone which I tend to use now.

I’m gradually collecting these images off my  computer as they pop up on my previous memories page on Facebook. Every day something different, that I forgot about, is there, and I ponder what thoughts were going through my mind all those years ago.

Supporting red nose day

Red nose day is a British charity which started many years ago. They do a telethon every two years and do comic sketches and serious reports to raise money for good causes. So far they have raised over £40 million. The money is split 50/50 between the UK and other countries..

They are trying to fight malaria, end child marriage, support families in need.

The comic relief symbol is the red nose. They sell these and other merchandise to raise funds. That’s why I’m wearing mine here 😜
