Mirror, mirror on the wall

Who is the sweetest of them all?

This is a mirror and surround made by Sculpted Steel at the Forge at Etruria Industrial museum. The actual mirror is a quarter of this but I was playing with duplicating photos again.

The blacksmith, Charis is very talented and has had work exhibited at Tatton Park, I think at one of the garden shows.

Portrait with portrait

The exhibition is going well and I had my photo taken with my portrait of my husband as a green man. It’s called my green man. I’m pleased with the composition.

What next? Once this is over I’ve booked to put a show up in another local gallery called the waiting room, in Longport, Stoke-on-Trent. That will be in September, not got the dates yet. I’m also going to do a couple of craft fairs in the next couple of months. It would be good to be commissioned to paint for people but I’m not sure how to break into that sort of work. I am happy to paint for people. Just contact me.

Old digital drawings(more)

Another set of drawings I did on the sketchfu website. I can only see these because I saved then to Facebook before the site closed several years ago now.

I would like to find another site where I  could practice my drawing skills. But there is nothing close to it I can find in drawing apps.

Anyway it’s nice to see my artistic memories.

Tiger Lily

DSC_1997

I’ve decided not to do any more on this, called Tiger Lily. It’s just a bit of fun, something different, a cross between a green man and a cat. I could do more. I think the colours are probably too confused. I could keep messing with it but I’m busy trying to finish other paintings as well, like my poppy painting….

I seem to be using a lot of cadmium red at the moment! The contrasting green is pthalo green which is such a deep emerald colour.

Onwards and upwards hopefully.

Based on a tile

FB_IMG_1558221491692

This is a digital drawing based on an old tile. I won’t bore you with the app I used it’s on my tablet and I haven’t been able to use it for a while as it needs fixing.

I drew it in 2016 and I don’t think I’ve shared it here before. It just popped up on my Facebook memories, and why not share it? It will just disappear into the aether again if I don’t.

I did try and create a glossy shine on it, but the chin is too big!

Favourite flower

FB_IMG_1557997049653

An acrylic on canvas from 2013. This was one of my favourite paintings and I used it as my profile picture for a few years. I’m no longer sure it’s as good as I thought. I would change the background to a darker grey green now to make the red Zing even more.

I think I will base another painting on it though. I’m  thinking of doing a long thin painting that could be hung horizontally or vertically. The design would have to work in both directions and perhaps even upside down.

Idea for a quilt

Just playing with the abstract pictures I drew, making a butterfly pattern then duplicating it, adding borders as if each piece was sewn together. I think I could make something out of this using cut pieces of patterned cloth using the butterfly as a template. I’m not sure about the colours as it gets mixed into the pattern. I wondered if I added some black to the background.

I sort of like the more random feel to this. At least I am being creative.

Eyes digitally drawn

Don’t look at me like that. It’s scary, she said. The screen stared back, green glaring eyes and red scaled skin. Only the slow movement of its pupils indicated life. The screen had been blank up until a few minutes ago. A voice had said humans were under control by the Jranson Collective and if all people worked with them they would be spared destruction.

She scanned her phone. The same image was being sent to it. All computer services are in our power, said the staring eyes. Do not attempt to attack us.

What the devil can we do? She thought. Nothing came to mind, but maybe? She picked up the land-line phone, a steady dialling tone greeted her. Now what’s the Doctors number? she thought.
