Tonights sky

The sky was stunning tonight, layers of cloud with light escaping from behind them. Reds, yellows, oranges, purples and some blues. Silhouettes of trees and buildings and the fencing around the Croft at Thistley Hough.

Ou could even see wisps of snow or rain falling from the clouds but not reaching the ground.

Taken about 9.45 pm tonight….

Anticrepuscular rays

Tonights view over Thistley Hough, Stoke-on-Trent. The light from the sun broke through the clouds. I thought these were called crepuscular rays, but apparently that’s when they go downward from the sun towards the ground. These are anti-crepuscular rays according to people on the cloud appreciation society’s Facebook page.

P. S. Someone else on the page says they are crepuscular as anticrepuscular ones are on the opposite side to the sun. What does that mean….

Short walk with bluebells…

Finally had a short walk today! We went to Cherished Chimneys which is a shop that sells chimneys and pottery at Longport, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire. and the Waiting Room gallery across the road in the same place. Then we walked round Westport lake, which is just half a mile away along the canal. We saw blossom and bluebells along the canal and round the lake. We avoided heavy clouds as we walked. I think it had rained heavily in Stoke as the path was soaking wet when we got home.

Smiling faces

Smiling cloud faces, view of Snowdonia, Wales, UK , June I think, 2019. Wishing I was there now. We haven’t been able to visit for over a year because of Covid…I saw this again today and remembered how enjoyable it was just travelling, exploring, driving down roads I’d never been down before. I don’t mind not driving much, but I’d like to go to a few nice places again….

Moon

One moon, high above the clouds. Seen on a walk, popping up like a bubble from the lips of a cloud.

It’s hard to capture the moon on my phone. The definition of the photo is not good, and having to zoom in makes it more blurred. I think I avoided too much camera shake.

It’s not often you see the moon in the sky in daylight. But I like this photo. Simple view and with the clouds it makes it more interesting.

Just back from an evening walk…

Cold, dark, windy

Not wet yet

Clouds cross the sky

Blot the stars

Sunset brings chill air

Creeping across the land,

Grass flattens against its cheek.

One step then another

Striding? More a cold shuffle

Tired feet and knees

But I keep going.

My walk is short for you.

But it’s enough for me….
