Two years ago

I was painting this a couple of years ago. It came out really well. I have a photo of the finished painting somewhere. It was called Ivy jug.

It’s not very often that you get paintings ofย  pottery, I don’t know why, I guess it’s a strange type of still life…. FB_IMG_1579275623188

I have also done murals of pottery… _20191122_114525

It’s turning into a collection!

Somewhere new

A new arts and craft centre offering a place to sell your work and also art workshops has opened in Campbell Place in Stoke, Stoke-on-Trent.

I had the pleasure to meet Phil today, who is running the Centre. He took some of my paintings to display. There are some interesting art works in there includung work by Phil himself. I think it’s great that something like this has opened in Stoke. It makes Campbell place a bit more interesting. Good luck to him and congratulations for having the spirit and enthusiasm to open up. Open Wednesdays to Sundays, it’s initially opening for two years. It’s got a Facebook page under Serendiparty arts and crafts centre. There are events and workshops listed there.

Today’s challenge.

Day twenty three of the 64 million artists January challenge. I wrote this…

Day 23, I can’t find the actual challenge, but I think it is to write a poem to support nature and say what superpower you would have.
My super power would be to turn hunters guns into flowers so they can’t kill majestic animals like Lions and Rhino’s and Elephants.

If you shoot at Rhino,
Elephant, or Giraffe,
I will turn your gun into
A flower for a laugh.
You won’t be able to kill,
Despite your evil will.
And with rifle now a rose
A Tiger might bite your nose!
Leave the scarce alone,
Don’t bother to wail and moan,
Elephant want to roam,
Panthers need a home.
No more evil deeds,
Turning guns into seeds!

Feeling owlish

_20200123_120219After a bad night’s sleep I decided to go to Etruria Artists this morning. One of the group suggested drawing a wise animal. My hubby drew a fox, I decided to draw an owl. I wanted to do something colourful and more abstract than I would usually do. This is based on my handbag, though it’s not a copy, more inspired by my bag. I think he’s more cheeky than wise!

My old cat

Sorry for the bad photo of this, but this was my old cat. She was on the big painting I posted a few days ago. She was very clever and if I tapped the wall on the other side of the gate she would jump the gap. I decided to take a photo on an old 35mm Olympus trip camera (this was before digital). She jumped on cue and I snapped the photo. When I saw it I decided to paint it. I won a small prize in a local art exhibition.

Shades of green

IMG_20200122_112207

Today’s challenge on the 64 million artists January challenge on Facebook was to take a journey through your home or garden or to take a walk and collect images of a colour. Because I’ve got a lot of plants and other objects that are green I decided to choose that colour. Including crocheted blanket from my sis, a book on trains, a box for a toy train, a multicolour duster (green section). A late I designed based on clarice cliffs’ pottery, a little sketchbook, Christmas cactus, some plants I’m growing on for spring, ferns and a green bottle, my cat and the garden outside, the border round some photos, finally the ariel roots of my orchid…..

More trees

IMG_20200120_193348_455IMG_20200120_193440_105IMG_20200120_193418_085I’m sitting here working with my digital drawings because my hip is still playing up so I’m missing choir practice. My hubby is just making a loaf and I’m going to bake some potatoes later so the house warms up.

Once you have done a drawing you don’t have to stick with that image, you can alter the hue, change positive to negative and find the edges of the image. Experiment is good. X

Tree and faces

Untitled76_001IMG_20200120_185123I decided to draw a tree with a pinkish sunset in the background. I used the ArtRage oils app.then I decided to see what it would look like if I duplicated and mirrored it. Now I can see a ๐Ÿ™€ cat! And various other patterns…. I’m one of those people who see faces in anything. I think I heard people saying that you can be employed to look for faces in patterns so they can alter designs and remove them. I could do that job! Art and Design seems full of them…. X

Glowing man

sketch-1579539335603

I thought I saw him through the window. A man glowing all different colours, but I looked again and it was a pretty scarf hanging on my neighbours washing line.

Later, I went out to feed the stray cat, and saw something from the corner of my eye, but it was a reflection of the sky in the pond.

I went back inside wondering what was happening, was I hallucinating? The sun was setting and glimmers of light from the crystal in the window seemed to be coalescing… A figure shaped like a man, grew from the glimmers. He spoke no words but reached out towards me. I ran into the kitchen, slamming the door behind me, but soon his head and a hand protruded through the door.

I ran out into the garden. Dark was falling, the figure followed. Glowing brightly now, it quickly moved out across the ground. I felt dreadful fear. It reached out and touched my hand, and instantly I froze. Now it drifted around, and… into me! I felt its presence inside my mind. Then I knew it was too late… Tomorrow, I tell you, they are coming for you……
