Walking with closer to home.

I went on a walk today with a group called closer to home. I couldn’t keep up all the way round their five mile walk but I did my best. You know a city is linked by main roads, but we went up old pathways, along the old track bed of a railway, the potteries loop line, and back along the canal.

Towards the end I found I was struggling, it was like I’d hit the wall, but I ket going and finished only a few hundred yards to the rear of the group. A friend walked along with me so it wasn’t too bad.

Finally walking again

As we arrived at Westport Lake today it started to snow. It didn’t stick, but children were running screaming as it came down thick and fast. We sat and waited in the car till it stopped. I didn’t take a photo of it because my phone was stuck in my pocket trapped between me and the car door.

Then out, a quick visit to the icecream van for a treat and round the latge lake once and the small one twice. No where near as far as I would normally do, but I managed to get enough steps and heart points in to meet my daily challenge. I’m shattered but happy!

Day Fifty

It’s been fifty days since I started the #100daywalkingchallenge. I’m surprised I’ve done it without a break. I started doing about two miles a day but I’m slowly building up. Today I did 4.6 miles. Yes on the flat, and not very fast, but I keep going.

I’m in a group that are trying to achieve this, not to raise money, but just to try and improve our health. There is no pressure, no minimum amount. Just gentle support of one another. If I don’t feel like going far I get encouraged by a friend, and vice versa.

Maze

There is a maze at the far end of Westport lake which we got stuck in (some muddy patches). It’s only got small hedges so you can’t really get lost. Yet another mirrored photo…. And why not?

My collection of them keeps increasing, I look at each view with the thought that I can make it into something quirky.

Reflections

I love using mirroring to change how a photo looks. You can do it vertically (top), horizontally (middle) or both (bottom).

I called them ‘Westport mirrored’, ‘I see frogs’ and ‘stained glass westport’.

I used the layout app which can be used to post images to both Facebook and Instagram. I’m on Instagram @mallabandbrown or #mallabandbrown (I never know which it is!) if you want to see more of my art.

Bottle oven combination

Same bottle oven, six different views, three of the oven, three reflected in the surface of the Trent and Mersey canal. Today I walked four and a half miles. We were doing mostly flat walking although there are a few uphill stretches where the locks allow water to be lowered in stages down hill, the barges float into the locks which are either emptied and the water and barge move downhill, or filled, so the barge moves up hill. We noticed a lot of debris from trees and litter was floating in the canal, the weather was so windy yesterday its blown in…

Photo troubles

I have too many photos on my phone, some on its drive and some on its SD card. I have thousands… I tried putting some on my pc from the phone. I have a USB cable with a connection to the phone. I found the bit on the pc that allows you to upload photos, but the pc can’t seem to find them on my phone? I tried Bluetooth. The phone found some woman’s phone nearby, it not my pc. I looked for Bluetooth on my pc but couldn’t find it?

I tried uploading to the cloud, but Samsung no longer supports it, or at least won’t from 30.3.21..? I have one drive, but my phone seems to have another type. My friend suggested I download Google photos. So I looked and I already have it on my phone. I’m not sure it’s on the pc though? Life was simple with film and physical photos. I will have another go but it’s frustrating.
