Little giraffes

_20190822_022803they still need a bit more work. I was painting till 4am. There are things wrong with them, I think the heads are too small slightly, but when you are painting on a matchbox sized canvas it’s hard to get things quite right. A couple of tiny brush strokes and it’s wrong and you have to start again. I left these early this morning as I wanted to see them in daylight. One thing I did notice is the moon on the blue one. I’ve got it curved the wrong way. The light is from the left so the curve needs to be in that direction. I’m also thinking of adding a few specks of white to another one to indicate stars. The one with the yellow sun might have some vegetation added.

Even though they are tiny I treat them like full size paintings. I doubt if it’s cost effective but it’s fun!

Two cats one ball

sketch-1566425534655

I didn’t get a photo of them, they move too fast. One cat plays with a small ball, batting it round the bathroom so it clunk’s off the cupboard and the side of the bath, racing into the kitchen, the living room and back again, zigzaging along the floor, sometimes skidding to a halt and then whizzing off in another direction. Her brother, bigger and more staid, sits by the back door as this goes on. Until she chases the ball under a big green coat hung opposite the back door. It’s long enough to reach the floor. She bat’s the ball away, under the coat and chases after it. He watches, head twisted round away from the cat flap. The ball trickles out, he can’t resist and pounces, she rushes out, sees him with her ball, twists in mid air, catches the ball with a claw and flicks it away, all so fast he can’t react. She speeds off and he chases. So it goes on. Life, fun, two cats, one ball.

An error occurred….

‘Please put down your cutlery, an error has occurred in the seafood menu.’ Blared the tannoy in the restaurant, ‘whelks were mistaken for scallops’. ‘cuttlefish have been substituted for squid’ ‘this restaurant has had to reboot its robot chef.’

Di and Jo sat mournfully waiting, twenty minutes passed. The auto platter was steaming and the Dover sole on it had started to sizzle.

‘So much for a quiet evening out’ muttered Jo. ‘Not very romantic,’ said Di, a frown on her face. ‘Where’s the Piscean monitor when you need him?’

Jo thought for a while ‘all at sea?’ she quizzed. Di replied ‘that’s a fishy tale!’

Seaside views

Mooching round Morecambe. The B&B we are at is very friendly and if anyone is disturbing the other guests it’s probably us. My hubby decided to explore the ‘sands’ on the beach tonight, but got stuck in the mud instead. He’s cleaned his sandals in the shower while I cleaned up all the mud he’d walked into the bedroom carpet! I dare not look outside at the stairs. For that reason I’m not naming the place here although I would call it excellent on trip advisor.

It’s been a long drive and a long day. So rather than doing my usual thing of blogging into the night I’m going to listen to the sound of the traffic driving past…. My hubby coughing because he’s got a bit of a chest infection and the noise of people going home late from the pub. Hope I sleep better than last night, it was 4.30am before I fell asleep….

Not watching TV

sketch-1565651281642

I realise that I spend a lot of time on this phone and not watching TV, although I do sometimes listen to it. There is a programme on about Hyenas at the moment.

So what do I do? Blog obviously, but also look at Facebook and Instagram and all those things. So I’m still sitting, but with a stiff neck and shoulders from hunching over this flipping phone!

I’m old enough not to have had a phone in the house. Then when we did it was on a table in the hall. It was big and green I think I remember. A base with a dial on it, you had to twirl the numbers to dial. Then a cradle at the top with two prongs sticking up. When you dropped the receiver on the prongs it ended the call. The receiver was a curved bar with a mouthpiece at one end and a microphone to speak in at the other end. It was attached to the body of the phone with a curled wire. Eventually phone went push button, then mobiles came in….. Its a different world!

Coincidence

I was playing with the masks you can use on Facebook and found one that turned you into a tiger. Then I decided to see how my face would look with one side mirrored. It looked interesting.

Today I was out at a traction engine rally. I had to take a photo of the big cat that was part of its decoration. I think he’s a lion.

But the image reminded me of something. Especially around the eyes…. I feel like saying Snap!
