Cat on mat

_20200611_203011

The cat lay on the mat,

Looked up with her big eyes. Feed me she thinks. I want catfood.

The cat stared straight at me, eyes so bright, gazing up lovingly a slight purr issuing from her throat.

Just wait a minute hon. I will be finished with the computer soon.. The purr increased, her eyes narrowed as if she was going to sleep. I turned back to the screen. Then the sharp pain hit me, stabbing through my mind. My ankle, then my leg, cat claws climbing, embedded in my flesh. As she reached my shoulder her mouth snapped shut on my nose! Teeth sinking into soft flesh. Claws striking out at my eyes.

Crossed paws

The cat has taken up residence on the microwave. He likes it in the kitchen because I think it’s cooler for him in the evening. The other cat sleeps upstairs. I just move things out of his way and he settles down. I like it when he crosses his front paws over his nose. He looks so cute.

Snuggled.

Paws crossed,

keeping the light out,

closed eyes,

relaxed,

asleep.

Sweet.

Paws twitch,

mad dream,

running and chasing

in his mind.

You can’t catch me,

he thinks,

as he curls into a tighter ball.

When I try and write limericks they sometimes go OK and other times they are a bit rubbish. With this one I was trying to write about something humorous about a cat in a box. But I found rhyming box too hard and swapped it round with cat. So I came up with this ditty… Not pretty…

A box was full up with a cat

Who also liked wearing a hat

He tried on a beret

That belonged to a ferret.

And shared all his food with a bat…

Artrage and photodirector

Drawn in artrage oils and edited in photodirector changing the colours and style.

This is what I mean about playing with are, yes this is a scrappy sketch, but it’s my scrappy sketch, amended and changed how I want. I would love to illustrate a book using a style like this. I could imagine creating pictures about a crazy cat in a children’s book.

I was once offered the opportunity to illustrate a book but the publishers woukd only allow the author to use an in house illustrator. I was very disappointed as I think I could have created a different atmosphere by working with her. Oh well….
