While I was writing this morning all three cats came upstairs to see me. This is one of the boy cats. FURRY NINJAS, pounce on anything. It’s fun to watch them all interact. You can catch them eyeing up the warmest places to sleep. One of them will move and another will take its place. A noise from a cupboard? A cat is washing, or snoring! Life with cats is fun.
Our outdoor, now indoor boy cat (seen sleeping here) seems to think he’s obliged to pay rent for staying here! It is quite upsetting when he brings small rodents like shrews and mice in. Sometimes we manage to rescue them. I hate it when he has a mouse moustache! I’m trying to teach him not to do it, but mostly I shout and tell him off and he looks bewildered (and bewhiskered).
Last night was mad. The mouse he bought in escaped into the bathroom but we managed to get it out by shutting our three cats in the kitchen and opening the back door. Since the bathroom is downstairs it was just a short run out for the mouse. The cats were contented with some cat food and we breathed a sigh of relief. I hope it doesn’t happen again soon!
Found my old cat toy while tidying up today. I will balance him on the back of the sofa but I couldn’t resist putting him on my old mat. Then I played with the texture to emphasise the fake fur on him. He has a gold tartan ribbon. I think I got him to go with a ‘merrythought’ tortoise soft toy that I won in a raffle years ago. That’s missing too, but I only just realised that because they are linked together in my mind.
Now my cats have come in. They want food! The toy cat has one advantage, it doesn’t need feeding!
No, just the way he’s sitting! He is such a big cat and he looks so strong. He’s so big he can barely get through our car flap. He battered at the flap when I tried to shut him in at night and split the actual flap part into three. I bought a new cat flap. But because it’s a different shape and would need new holes drilling, I took the old bit out. Then I sanded bits off the new flap and managed to get the new bit fitted. The trouble is it’s very slightly smaller so it’s a bit drafty, and if this cat goes through it roughly he knocks the flap loose. But no – he is fully legged!
May 2020. This is an urban sketch because its ouside drawn in real time. I’m pleased with some of the details I added, like our plastic garden chair with the cut out curves in the back. When I sat and drew our then outside cat sitting by the summerhouse door. I haven’t been in the summer house much since then. I guess things got to me a bit. I didn’t shake then… I need to start feeling like I can be less isolated. But because my balance isn’t as good I always feel like I might tumble over. My hubby is good at leaving things in the way and I’m rubbish at bending over to move them. How did I get like this? It’s easier to hide away in the house. I need to try and sort myself out, but just getting doctors appointments is difficult. Anyway enough feeling sorry for myself. X
Just a play around with textures and colours using a negative image of a cat then several flood fills and textures to get the rippled effect. I think it’s still readable as a cat… I placed the rainbow flood fill towards the top and chose the colours so it looks a bit like a sunset.
