Cat on a roof

One of our indoor cats snuck out the back door today. We didn’t realise as my hubby left the back door open just while he popped out to get the milk in. I knew she was out when I went to give her some cat treats and she didn’t come running immediately.

My hubby is loud, and she runs and hides from him, so when he went out shouting her name I knew that wouldn’t work. I put my coat on and shook the bag of treats near the back door, then tried looking between the back fence and the shed. No sign. Still shouting her name I called and called, no answer…

I came in to calm down, I did the washing up to take my mind off things. I decided to give her a few minutes peace to let her settle wherever whe was. Then I went out and called her again….

Mew! Mew! She was miaowing loudly, but where? Sounded like the neighbours garden. You have to go out our front door and down the alley… Mew! I could hear her, but not see her. She mewed constantly as I called her, I looked behind old bits of wood, and an old door propped against the fence. Mew! I climbed over a pile of old branches into the next garden. Mew! Not in their shed.

Mew! The cat noise was coming and going, as if she was moving around. But where? Not behind anything? Maybe up? There she was, she must have climbed up a bush to get onto a kitchen extension roof!

She doesn’t climb, except up stairs, but she got up there. Mew!!! Come down little cat? After a lot of cajoling she came down just after the neighbour offered the loan of a ladder! She scrambled and slid down the branches… And shot off into our garden! I ran round and back through the front door, through the house and let her in the back door. She ran upstairs. Then she came down again and had some food, as if nothing had happened.

Mow Cop, twice

Experiment with paint and ink. The first painting was from a photo, the second one was extrapolated from the first. Both college work. Its fun trying different mark making and adjusting colours and hues to create different atmospheres in a piece of art. Mow Cop is a folly (pretend castle) sitting on a hill overlooking Cheshire and Staffordshire

Mark making and trying natural and more expressive colours.

Done!

Two days of hard work to tie up all the loose ends of this semesters college work. I only hope it all makes sense. I tried fitting imges on a word document, they came out tiny on the PDF. I tried using PowerPoint, it played up, and the images are huge! Ah well, computers are not my speciality.

At least now I can think about life outside of college for a couple of weeks till the start of the next semester. I can try and catch up with life.

Turning some splodges into a butterfly.

Spent all day fighting PowerPoint!

Today was hard. One of our college presentations has to have our illustrations in a PowerPoint. But my computer was playing up and instead of being able to use the tabs at the top of the page they were greyed out. So I started a new presentation, copied and pasted the work over… Then I had a break for lunch, and the new powerpoint would not work, but the old one would! So I shifted all the new work over and continued. I just finished it. I don’t think it’s well presented. PowerPoint gives you design options so each page looks good, but together it’s a bit of a mush mash.

I have got to finish off another piece of work and hand both in this week so I might be missing for a few days.

Strangers

They met by the hellibores, just inside the cemetery gates. They were strangers, meeting because of a tweet one had sent and the other had read. They might have lived in the same town, the same street, but neither knew.

It was almost midnight when they met and misty, they nodded at one another, recognising a fellow conspirator.

They stood and talked, for minutes, exchanged notes, compared ideas. They were both in agreement. There was no doubts, they confirmed the transaction.

Yes that’s a meat feast pizza, two doughnuts and a bottle of cola.

The man got on his moped and drove off into the darkness.

He Lodge keeper took his order inside. Pizzas here, he said to his wife..

Lamp

Metallic watercolours on black cartridge paper. I painted this back in February. I’m going over my college work and trying to select the ten best images, or the most experimental ones. I’ve got far to many to choose from but I like this, it’s got its problems, a bit rough round the edges, but I was just looking at someone else’s post and the way she used light and shade on figures, and it reminded me of this.

On the bottle oven art trail.

I delivered my varnished bottle oven planter to the BID Art-trail today. Here’s the photo to prove it. See their website : https://thestoke2000.co.uk/artisan/?v=79cba1185463

I don’t think my photo is on yet but there are some really good images of around fifty bottle oven planters.

There is enough space in the top of the planter to fit a small pot. I think once the art trail display exhibition is over and I get it back I will plant it up with a strawberry plant or some trailing lobelia.
