Then Tuesdays #bandofsketchers prompt was architectural. My go to view when I don’t feel like going out is the Portmeirion factory across the road. I used black acrylic monoprint on white printing paper to give it texture and shadow. Then drew over the top and added a bit of pink post-it note.
And the road goes ever on… Black acrylic monoprint spiral. I was remembering a song or poem from the Hobbit by Tolkien. Bit abstract but fun…I haven’t slept much tonight so thought I would catch up with some #bandofsketchers pictures. This was last Sundays prompt, road
A friend died a while ago and I didn’t know that a memorial plaque had been attached to the weeping willow in the Spode Rose Garden.
The plaque is screened by the trees foliage, so when I saw a pale disc on the trunk, I assumed it was a branch that had been cut off, but no, it was a memorial. I was saddened because I hadn’t remembered him with everything that had happened over the last year. He was a lovely person and a brilliant artist. Farewell.
Quick digital sketch using a blurring tool and eraser on top of a previous drawing of a blue woman. I like morphing things from one to another…
Using a sketching app on my phone. And trying to give the face more sharpness and character than a generic idea of a face. I’m being influenced by other artists here including Robin King and stoneronarollercoaster.
Just back from a garden centre in Silverdale, as a treat after yesterday. Unfortunately it is right next to Whalleys Quarry. The stench was vile! We almost turned round and came home. Even I, who lost my sense of smell in an accident, could taste it in the back of my mouth! Disgusting, how people can live with it I don’t know!
Even the lovely smell of the flowers was extinguished by the smell. As we drove away from the garden centre we drove past the main entrance. Hubby opened the window to clear the smell, a bad mistake! Even two miles away there was still a ‘flavour’ in the air. Vile! I feel so sorry for the garden centre staff.
I saw these rather splendid chimneys on my walk yesterday. They are on a building opposite Stoke Station. I’m going to make a drawing of them later today. X
I just tripped up over a paving slab, I hit my knees hands and head on the way down.
I scratched the lens of my glasses but can still see out of them. My hubby and some passers by very kindly helped me. I think I got away with very little harm considering it was a heavy fall and my head hit the top of a step. I’m more shocked than anything else and the palm of my hand is bruised…. But nothing broken and no bad bleeding x just shaken.
Tonight I painted Mona for the Penkhull Mystery play, Mystery May Madness event which was a Zoom meeting with an audience watching flower arrangement, songs, memoirs, jokes, me painting this live, plus a raffle… All in 1hr 40mins! Acrylic on canvas, after Leonardo DaVinci. Needs a bit more work. X
On the track bed of the old potteries loop line (of the North Staffordshire Railway). This tunnel is near Burslem in Stoke-on-Trent. The railway ran under a road and then carries on towards Tunstall I think. This footpath runs between a few of the six towns of the potteries. Maybe it could be used as a light transport system avoiding clogged roads. If it was I’d hope it also allowed pedestrian and cycle access. This green pathway allows walkers to breathe cleaner air than alongside the road system.
He woke up and saw the figure of a blue woman hovering in the bedroom. She was standing, but as he looked down to the side of the bed her feet were a couple of inches above the floor.
She had no facial features, like a mannequins dummy, blank faced, not even eyes. No mouth, no sound. He felt, somehow though, that she was looking at him? The angle of her head, tipped down and intent on where he lay. He noticed motes of dust in the sunbeam shining through the window. He could see them floating beyond the figure. It was dissolving as he watched.
Finally it faded, gradually, slowly, melting into nothing. No explanation, no reason, gone. All he felt was a wash of calm, not fear, and relieved that she was gone.
