I used to draw a lot in an app called sketcherfree but I haven’t used it for a while. Perhaps it is time to find it again. Using different styles frees up my mind!

Using filters you can vary colours and styles. I used a photo editing app but also photodirector. I placed all four images together using the Instagram Layout App. I know I keep going on about these editing programs but it’s because I think they can make a difference to my art without me losing my originality. The source of the image is usually one of my drawings, paintings or photos. It’s like adding layers of style to my creative ability.

Today’s #bandofsketchers prompt was factory. This is the view from our window across the road to the factory. They have trees and plants in front of it to screen it a bit. The tree is covered by ivy at the moment but the buds are already showing ready for spring.

I’m trying to come up with different Dragon designs. This was today’s idea. Batwing ears, crocodile type skin and scales, smoke gently streams from its mouth. I’m not sure how large it is? It could be two feet long or twenty meters! I’m pleased with it.

Sitting waiting for my hubby while he was at an appointment. All the angles and layers made it an interesting view to draw. I got bored with looking at my phone and listening to ‘easy listening’ radio. I added colour when I got home. I also tried to draw a garden chair that was in the courtyard and looked a bit chunky.

Ten minute sketch while watching #skylandscapeartistoftheyear. It was of the Forth Bridge, although one of the towers looks like its collapsing! One of the reasons it was quick was because I wanted to watch the show and see what the artists did. You can’t do that while you are drawing. I enjoyed it very much.

Join a choir?

We sing all sorts of music in the choirs I am in. We learn by repetition rather than using sheet music. We’ve been learning Bulgarian songs, and ones by Robert Burns recently. Also sea shanties. There is one choir called Clay Chorus that has men and women singing in it and Loud Mouth Women which is a women only choir. Both are usually unaccompanied (a capella), although sometimes we have a guitar or ukulele to help with the tune. There are no auditions, people just come along and try. Many stay with the choirs for years. It was such a shame when we couldn’t meet because od Covid. Now all of us are vaccinated, we wear masks when we move around. The windows are open and we keep the room well ventilated. We do lateral flow tests to be safe. It’s fun to sing again.

Coronal Mass Ejection

Image of the Sun showing a solar flare leaving the Sun. The flare was huge, but it was on the far side of the Sun. If you go to Spaceweather.com you can find out more. Apparently it was from a large group of sunspots. (darker areas of the sun involved in the magnetic lines of force within the sun, they get twisted together and produce solar flares). I am not an expert. But I do know you should NEVER LOOK DIRECTLY AT THE SUN. EVEN DURING SOLAR ECLIPSES, Spaceweather.com has all sorts of information on it.
