Leaves falling sets the camera off, cats walking past, our reflections in the window. But I don’t care. We can check if someone’s out there. I’m fed up of feeling like a security guard. If I had a camera when our sheds were broken into we might have put them off, or they might have been caught. Now I can check my phone when I get an alert. Just got to figure it out!
Art at school. I studied many other subjects but Art had my soul from four or five. I used to hang my drawings on strings across my bedroom because I didn’t have enough wall space. My mom would show off my Art to visitors to the house. School sent one of my paintings to our twin town in Germany where it was exhibited. I was asked to do a portrait of a group of school children when a headmistress was leaving.
Art wasn’t the thing to do in many ways. I needed to support my family as we went though some bad times, but my mother supported my wish to go to college. I felt so lucky to be allowed to leave home and learn more about art.
I found out that my ability helped in other aspects of life and jobs. I notice things others miss. I can look at the world and imagine it as a painting. I am good at colour matching, composition, I love to experiment and being an artist makes me more involved in lots of ideas and thoughts.
Would I recommend studying Art to someone? Definitely, cover other bases too, but it has made me a well rounded person. Career choices could be architect, designer, print maker, painter, technical design, surface pattern, ceramicist, sculptor, editor, illustrator, graphic designer, digital media, computer game design, and many more subjects. Go for it if you can. X
I realised I’d taken a photo of the top of the tree too. It’s quite tall. A nice canopy, not spreading too far out, so beautiful and delicate.
As I say, I feel like ordering one. The neighbours might not appreciate it! It can go with the small Eucalyptus tree we have in the centre of the garden? I’ll see.
Seen on an allotment. This tree with strange leaves. They were changing colour and may be gone next week as we are having a cold, wet and windy spell, it may even be frosty in the morning. I think it might be a Gingko?
Yes it is! Gingko Bilboa. Apparently the tree that time forgot according to Mr Google. Now I know I might order one from t’internet as my Yorkshire friend says.
I don’t manage it well, when my hands get tired I put my phone down, or when I watch something on TV. But I think I’m addicted. I like a couple of word games and play them on my phone, then there’s art, and taking photos of things I like.
Currently I’m watching a very old Alfred Hitchcock film from the 1930’s. It’s a romance. TV screen…
Apart from that I’m on a few social media platforms (too many for my own good! ).
To be honest I wish I could turn the clock back and STEP AWAY FROM THE SCREENS!
Today’s #bandofsketchers prompt was fashion. I’m at a loss with this so I just did a digital finger painting of a woman in a dress using my Artrage app. Then I used photodirector app to change the texture and background to make it more graphic.
Poems, stories about cats, short stories, art, life, Sci fi, a mixture? I try and keep up with the times, but am I boring you? I need to be self critical and also intelligible. Are my posts interesting? I try and be polite, considerate, thoughtful, but I’m probably too old fashioned.
I can’t talk about pop music, and I love science. I try and think things through. I think I must be a nerd
So far this post has been about me (I), but really, what about you?
Have you any suggestions, and ideas, are you interested in knitting or quantum physics? I can’t promise to be able to write about either, but I’m willing to try!
Watching sky portrait artist of the year. I’ve done a finger painting of an editor called Vanessa Kingori, trouble is you don’t see the sitter for long so it’s a very sketchy drawing. Artrage app.
An experimental painting, acrylic on canvas, using drops of paint spread with a} pallette knife. Each colour was put on one at a time, spread, then the next colour and so on. The paint was reasonably thick so I then swirled the colours with the pallette knife and pulled curved lines through the paint. I’ve called it flowers reflected.
