I’ve managed to finish it! Leonine, it’s going to a charity as a raffle prize. I hope they like it.
Too many photos
Anyone who follows my blog know I illustrate it with my own images and not stock illustrations. But my images are a bit too large and I keep getting memory too low messages again.
Previously I paid extra to get more memory, but I really can’t keep doing that. I am not sure how to reduce the image sizes so all I can do is delete pictures off my earlier posts here. I’m not taking them off the site pages, but from the blog posts. I’ve several thousand to go through, and I don’t think it will seriously impact on the posts….

More done, I’m having a rest now…. I am enjoying doing this but I want to get the mane right, the photo I’m working from is quite high definition, I want to get as much detail in as I can without overdoing it. It’s about A4 size and acrylic on canvas.

Spirit, life, speed,
Race, jump, gallop,
Fire, flight, chase….
Beauty, bright, canter,
Clip and clop…
Step and hop,
Rise high, rearing,
Hooves dart fast,
Equine grace, windswept.
I keep coming back to this!
Oh I don’t know! I can’t decide. Done a little sketch to think about it. I like doing surreal things, it’s hard to get it right but it can work….. Anyway I’m going to finish my lion painting and will come back to this….
The little Goldmine
Saw this in Burslem today. On the main road from Cobridge up to Burslem.
Arthur Berry was an artist based in Stoke-on-Trent where he produced pictures of everyday figures and landscapes with a style of his own. Charcoal and pastels are used to chisel faces out of blackness, strokes of grey and white float on top of murky reds to bring out the dark shapes of buildings.
Arthur was also a writer and poet. We attended several of his plays when they were performed at the Victoria Theatre in Hartshill, Stoke-on-Trent in the 1980’s. We have a copy of a couple of his books. He was a very creative artist.
Today’s 1″challenge
Day 16…only 15 to go. I’ve enjoyed doing these so far. I’m even drawing them early! Last year I kept adding pictures late.
The glass should be fired in the next couple of days, then I shall have pieces I can turn into smaller necklaces. I loved being able to do it, but the lady who runs the workshops is moving away. I shall have to find someone else who does it, or the pieces I did today will be my last experiment in this craft.

Add background smudges
Bend into shapes
Like pasta twists…
Multiply and flip
Till cooked
Into nine squares.
Then expand into four more.
Voilà
Pattern….
Shall I add faces?
I like surreal art and I’m trying to decide whether to add faces to my winter tree painting. I’ve added them in a sketching app just to get an idea of how it would look?
What do you think? Should I? Dare I? Or not?
