Sometimes I go a little abstract, and then I particularly like adding flowing lines and spirals. I guess I’m a pattern lover. This cat painting is acrylic on canvas. I did it in 2008. I do remember painting it but I don’t know if it was ever exhibited, I think perhaps I should have an archive but I never got round to it. I think I can see a hint of of illustration ideas in this. But then Ive always been disorganised. I am thinking of setting up a new webpage which will only be for illustrations so that I can add images that might be for sale, or look into doing tee shirt designs. I’ve heard of places like Redbubble , Spoonflower or Square, is anyone familiar with them?

Trying to draw part of a painting with felt pens…

I struggled with this. I tried to draw a square for our Orme art group collaboration of part of a Pierre Bonnard painting. I thought it looked OK but when I see the pictures side by side? Hmm. I was drawing with marker pens and felt pens, some of which would smudge, others are permanent. Clearly I haven’t been able to blend things that well and also my drawing is not as delicate. But you can’t draw paint brush marks with a felt pen. They say a bad workman blames his tools.. I don’t know…
Night sky

Night sky
Like a painting
Moon swirls with cloud
Like cream
in a cup of coffee
Bronze leaves glint
Moonlight sparkles down
Van Gogh imagining
Light and dark
Blackness enveloping all…
Romantic and moody night.
Beefburgers in Yorkshire puddings

What to cook for tea?
Beefburgers, roasted in the oven because my grill is broken and I didn’t want to fry them. Chilli pepper, garlic, a sweet pepper, an onion, all chopped up and sautéed. Then I added half a tin of tomatoes, some fresh basil and a stock cube. In the last four or five minutes I popped the store bought Yorkshire puddings into the oven to heat them through. I put the veg inside the puddings and put the burgers on top… The only thing missing? No mustard!
Another cake?

I really want to make another apple cake but I keep getting distracted. I have paintings to take to a gallery who are going to try to sell them on line for me. I have to get my cats flea treatments from the vets. I have online lectures to attend. I don’t know how much longer the apples will last. Yesterday I used a large one to make apple sauce. I added cider instead of water and cooked the fruit slowly over a low heat v gradually mashing down the apples. Delicious with cream.

Tomatoes ripening-at last!

A few tiny tomatoes, some from our plants, most from an allotment we helped on. I think they were brought on by some ripe bananas that give out a gas which helps ripen fruit around them. My hubby says the chemical symbol for the gas is Ethene (previously called Ethylene) CH2=CH2….We have a few apples too. I used a cooking apple yesterday with some cider to make a very tasty apple sauce. I’m going to use the rest of the apples up in a cake.
Backyard today

I’m still waiting, on the 3rd November, for my hanging baskets to get knocked off by the frost. October was the fifth wettest since the 19th century. And it was wet, and windy. A couple of ex hurricanes blew over us, the sky stayed battleship grey for a lot of the month. The wind makes our windows whistle and moan in the kitchen if its from the South West, and the noise moves to the front of the house if the wind shifts to the North East. That’s why the plants do well round the back, they are in a little sheltered micro climate. So I’m waiting to see what happens tomorrow… And not just in the garden!
Prompt, Blue

The prompt was Blue for #bandofsketchers today. I decided to use a black pen to draw my box of old nail varnishes. I coloured the bottles with the blue nail varnishes that I have. One way of using them up.
Old radio abstract

When I took this photo it was dark and underexposed. I decided to change it with a black and white filter but was going to delete it from my phone. Then I decided to put it through a texture filter, still not satisfied I added a lens flare to the handle. I’ve decided not to do any more to it.
The question is if you had to do something with the original what would you do? Here’s the plain black and white version.

Which do you prefer?
Snapdragons 1st November 2020

On my walk yesterday I saw two lots of snapdragon still flowering the and some pale pink ones next to them. These are summer flowers, usually gone by now. Thus was up a high hill, at the side of the pavement next to the road. Impressive survival skills.
My hanging baskets are still surviving and if they haven’t flopped after the cold tonight I will take some more photos of them. They can’t last much longer. Soon the leaves will be gone and the flowers will be dead. Let’s hope they last a while longer.
