That ppaw came out and touched my arm! He’s purring, eyes closed and allowing me to stroke him. Ideally I’d like to get him down the vets to check him over, but I don’t think he’d play and he’s a much bigger cat then my boy and girl… At least he should be safe over winter….
Todays #bandofsketchers picture, watercolour sketch of my windowsill…
The cat has her own cat tree because the window sill is covered in glass, geodes, metal sculptural objects and more. I can’t show them all as the cat tree is in the way…. The cat loves sitting there as it’s right over the radiator. I think the diagonals sort of have a flattening, almost japanese woodblock effect? Anyway it was nice to do something in watercolours for a change. I just used a bit of metallic gold and silver marker pen to highlight some of the objects.
For a couple of years now I’ve sponsored a guide dog for the blind. I get regular ‘pupdates’ to tell me how the trainee puppy is doing. Ginger is my latest puppy and when I saw this photo I just had to share. The thought that this cute dog can turn into a kind helper to a person in need is so wonderful. I hope Ginger learns well and qualifies with flying colours.
A collection of watches, new and old. Broken straps, flat batteries. I’m thinking of using some of them in my college course. We have to create an artefact that will show our artistic practice. I can’t show you my ideas as it’s for the course only but I will discuss what I’m thinking about.
My idea is to re use old watches and clocks and repurpose them. A lot of the time (no pun intended), watches don’t have their batteries replaced or their wrist straps break, or they just go out of fashion. There must be old watches in drawers or cupboards all over the country.
My idea is to incorporate them into something else, so that they are useful again. It would mean trying to find watches that could be fixed or reconditioned and then fix them into the body of an object that can then be used a a decorative time piece.
Found in a pothole on my walk, someone has tried to fill in a hole with shards of broken pots. I’m not sure why, and if anyone was to fall onto them as they are partially hidden by fallen leaves. I guess whoever did it was trying to be helpful, but surely using gravel might have been more sensible idea? But it did make an interesting photo. I suppose it makes a change from bits of litter and plastic.
I was looking for a digital drawing to show a friend on zoom because I was trying to explain you can draw with a stylus on a drawing tablet, and without having to add layers. I drew this on sketchfu about ten year ago. This is a print off on paper. I have not got many printed versions of my digital drawings….
Its odd what comes into my mind to paint. This again was a few years ago and a tiny painting, acrylic on a small canvas. I think this was a crow. They are such characters, intelligent and cheeky, known to use tools. They are part of the Corvid family, which includes Ravens and Rooks I think? All of them have the same clever characteristics.
This was another one of the small paintings I did to sell at craft fairs and it was sold. I think to a lady who als bought a small painting of a skull…..
Ignore the time on my weather station, I haven’t changed it since the clocks went back for winter. Look at the inside temperature in here, my living room. 15.6°C inside (7.8°C outside). I wondered why I was shivering. I’ve been trying to keep the central heating off most of the time to save money, but I’ve just relented and put it on. I’m still shaking while I type this. As heat rises I expect the ceiling to get warm first. My feet and legs feel the coldest……Now think of all the homeless people who don’t have shelter. I might be cold but I’m thankful to have a home.
I don’t know what the equivalent in Farenheight would be… I’d categorise it as ‘chilly’…
When I was young silver Birch trees were greyish silver. I remember seeing some in our local park. Even when I came to live in this city they were silver grey…..
But now… Each time I see one its white?! Is that right, are they the same species? I think they are…. I think it indicates how much less industrial smoke is in the air? And are trees growing faster now? They seem to shoot up. If they were cut down would their tree rings be wider, fatter, more growth in a year than before the pollution started to reduce… Memories of a changing world.
