Hanging baskets hanging on….

Yes they are still surviving. Plants and flowers that would normally have shrivelled away by now, a series of frosts due this week might do that, but the plucky baskets (OK they are not thinking or animated) have hung on together with the plants around the yard. I guess there must be a microclimate. I will let them stay where they are until its time to get them refilled again in spring next year…

There are various plants in the photos, including nasturtium, fushua, begonia, aster, pelargonium and many more.

  1. They look good. Enjoy the beautiful colours while you can. I would be interested to know what medium you use to fill the natural fibre liners mainly for keeping in some moisture. With just potting mix the water runs straight through.

    1. I don’t know with the ones from the nursery but I sometimes add water retention granuals. But basically I use plastic lined liners, and I plant underneath as well as in the top. I also hang them one under the other so water that flows through drops into the lower basket….
