I’ve realised how out of touch I have got with some people. It’s not deliberate, but I’m one of these out of sight, out of mind people. I tend to be aware of things in the ‘now’, and the past is gone. It’s helpful because I don’t dwell on bad things from the past, but on the other hand it makes me forget to keep in touch with old friends. Can you know too many people? I don’t think so. But I can’t hold them all in my head! So my intention is to try and at least say hi once a month…. I need to remind myself to do it…..

In a display case, trapped like a tiger in a cage. Black and brown tabby sculpture. Little legs, massive tail. Iove this piece of cat sculpture at Salts Mill in Saltaire, Yorkshire. I think the technique is scraffito? Where you have a thin layer of slip pover a different colour. When it’s dry you can carve through it to reveal the underlying colour. A purrfect decoration for this wild tabby!

Ice cold fingers tickle my legs and feet, I need to put more layers on. We have the central heating on low and a little oil heater. It was OK while I cooked our evening meal, but now the cooker is off the temperature has dropped to 17.5°C, not very cold, but enough to feel a little chilly. I’ve just turned the fridge freezer up a bit because the freezer is icing up so it must be working too hard. The cats are finding warm spots to hide in, I don’t blame them. It’s not even thst cold outside, although a gritter has driven by spreading salt and grit on the road surface so no doubt its going to get chillier inside and out… Brrr

After several weeks away from the yoga class I went back tonight. I do chair yoga as I cannot get up from the floor, but our teacher allows me to adapt positions so I can get the same effect. I also join in the breathing and relaxation parts of the session. The only thing I cannot do are inverted postures, where your head is on the ground and your legs and arms are raised so the blood goes to your head.
I have been doing yoga on and off for a few years, I don’t feel like I’m an expert, I’m not capable of doing some of the moves, but I try my best, which I think is a good part of yoga’s ethos. I am never going to be to do all the balances and postures, but it does help me relax.
Today’s #bandofsketchers prompt was framed. I rarely frame my pictures, I think it’s nicer for the person buying them to chose something. If I do it’s usually quite simple. I do use ‘I wis framed’, in Liverpool Road, Stoke, sometimes as they help you chose what’s best.

Today I feel like I’m drifting..
Things to do?
Yes, but I’m thinking
Ignoring the world
I’m just sitting
Down and just
Contemplating
Mulling over what to do
But I’m only prevaricating…
Have I got a clue
About future creating?
I don’t know what to do…
And I keep cogitating..
I have a thesaurus for a brain
My brain needs retraining!

On Sunday my owl painting almost sold, a lady came along and was interested in it for her daughter. She even took a photo of it to show her daughter, but unfortunately it was a no from her. I wonder what I can paint that I love that a customer would like? I try and do good paintings, but it is that balance between a commercial image and a more individual picture. I guess everyone is different, we all have our own ideas and unless I paint commissions I have to second guess the audience I have. My work is so eclectic, if I kept painting the same theme over and over again I know I would get bored x

I had to buy a new mat today, the old one was worn out. The cats love it, they have burrowed underneath it, scratched their claws on it, played with a tiny toy and a ball, (both under the sofa now). The mat is where we walk by the sofa and one of the cats has decided he wants to sleep on it, but as I’m walking backwards and forwards over it he’s had to move. No doubt he will sleep there tonight! The cat will be sleeping on the mat. X

It is foggy today, the mist started this afternoon, a cloud coming down low, covering the sun as it set. Blurring and shadowing the skies colours. Now it is more dense, I drove up our hill and the lampposts disappeared, like white smoke was hiding them. It was hard to see through the fog, obstacles hidden until you were almost on top of them. There’s a set of traffic cones half way up our hill where a car partially knocked a wall down. I didn’t see it on the way up! I came home along a different road to avoid it.
