Comfy cat

He’s curled up on a cushion between out two chairs. Happily asleep. He’s not a cat that twitches much when he dreams. Some of the kick out their legs and run after mice I guess when they sleep. But my boy cat stays calm, a twitch of his ear, or his nose is all he does. Cats sleep for sixteen hours a day as far as I know. Imagine that. Head down, dreaming over what food he will be getting for tea. Slightly pampered. Always loved.

Last challenge with USK Stoke-on-Trent

It had to happen, after sketching since March this year we have decided to end posting sketches to the Stoke Urban Sketchers page on Facebook .

The thing is that not everyone that joined in is from Stoke or its surroundings. And not everyone wants to draw the challenges, so our pictures may have cluttered up the page a bit. So now we are opening a new page.. It should be up and running in September. If you like sketching and feel like joining pop over to Facebook. I will get the details and post them here.

In the meantime today’s prompt was ‘kitchen’ I decided to sketch part of the kitchen from the living room. I ache too much from my long walk earlier to stand up and draw the full thing!

Quiet rest

Today I walked 4.3 miles, not far, but part of it was up one of the steepest hills in Stoke-on-Trent. I’m trying to get fitter, and lose a few more pounds in the meantime. We stopped off at a local pub in Hartshill and had half of lime and soda water. The beer garden would have been quiet except for the traffic being heavier today than it has been for ages. I tried to talk to my walking partner, but I’m too slow and I’m also trying to keep to social distancing, so I enede up having to shout a bit, then every time I spoke another car came past so I repeated myself a lot. Well I’m not a great walker, but I did OK. My legs were wobbling by the time we got back. Highlights were seeing five or six bees feeding on Japanese Anemone plants. Sadly no photo unless my friend sends me a copy of hers.

Cat in a basket

Yawning cat

Our boy cat likes to sleep anywhere enclosed, like boxes or behind curtains, when he got in the old washing basket where we keep shopping bags, that was OK… That was in the quiet of the bathroom. But hubby wants a shower so he’s bought the cat and the basket into the living room so the cat doesn’t get wet! He was fast asleep so had one huge yawn, not he’s curled up and gone back to sleep! (the cat not hubby!)

Sleepy

I keep nodding off, falling asleep, almost in mid sentence. Stayed up too late for the last three nights. Going to bed at three or four am. I was trying to get my coursework done, but I’ve fallen into a bad habit of going to bed late and getting up late. I keep having interesting dreams, in them I’m at university walking through rooms and lecture halls, I’m doing a distance learning course, but clearly I want to go there. Can barely keep my eyes open. I keep having to check my grammar and writing. I nod off as I’m typing sometimes. Wake up to gibberish. V V g g kg v”fcggffvb or something like that.

I might try and write something else. But what? What do people want to hear? I don’t know. Brains running on empty….

Five miles walked…

I went for a walk today. Over to the Trent and Mersey canal to Etruria, then down the arm of the Cauldon canal to Hanley Park, through the park and down into Stoke and home. That is the furthest I have walked for years. I think I was scared of walking and distance. I am learning I can do it…. Next week I want to walk six miles up our steep hill. My friend went on to go a bit further, but I needed a rest. My feet hurt.

Typing stuff

My life is full of typing at the moment. College work and blogging, and then all my social media too. I guess that’s why my arms ache? I’ve only got a small space for my keyboard as I only have a tiny desk. An old wooden table with a hinged section screwed in place on the side but too rickety to use.

I could use the dictation mode on the computer but I think there is too much extraneous noise to use it.

Anyway back to boggled eyes….

Before Covid (BC)

IMG_20191105_002200_191

I try to remember before Covid. Walking free, no need to be nervous. Of course we could still catch flu, or get pneumonia, or be so ill you could die. But this is worse.

So I’ve decided to post pictures from before March, this is a digital drawing I did on the sketcher free app… I might draw some more images like this. I think I remember how I did it.

In other words, I don’t want to bore people. I will try and come up with more interesting content.

Slow

_20200806_205945

I was walking up our hill today and this passed me….

I’m not saying I walk slowly but paint can dry before I get back from a walk.

My feet are so flat my arches are basements?

I walked about three miles today. I couldn’t find the off switch for the treadmill!

I’m not saying I’m tired, but I can’t walk to the fridge now!

Bad jokes…..

😴 Tired

I don’t put up pictures of myself very often. Why would you want to see me? I only had five hours sleep. I have pulled something in my arm, I think it’s a trapped nerve in my neck and I keep ending up in pain when I lie down. So if you will forgive me here I am. I’m tired and grumpy. I hope to get an appointment with a physio soon but there are not many appointments. I think I have what I’m calling lock down neck. My shoulders are constantly tense, tight and painful. I do feel like I have the weight of the world on my shoulders. Oh well….
