My paintings from yesterday. The small ones have ribbons attached so they can hang from a Christmas tree.

Close up of one of the larger ones. Two bottle kilns side by side, at night, a frosty gleam on them and a patchy, cloudy sky with stars peeping through. The shape of the wisp of smoke mimics the curve of the moon. I used acrylics and glitter glue to give the frosty effect. The smallest canvases are about 1 x 1.5 inches. The bigger ones are around 6x 4.5 and 4.5 inches. They are on display at the Waiting room gallery, I’m pleased to say they are there with other works that I have done for the next week.

When I come out of our art group this afternoon I saw a wonderful dappled sky. This was the aftermath of storm Arwen last night. There were still freezing gusts of wind and snow was lying in small patches (most had melted). I’m in love with cloudscape, I’m a member of the cloud appreciation society although I’m rubbish at identifying clouds! Anyway I decided to mirror the view so it looks like there is a calm icy lake . X

Far away – spy

Daylight moon fly

Pale blue and white

Clouds billow out

Craters are hidden

Mares unbidden

Lie in bright sunlight

Lost in the day, bright

Sea of tranquility

We had ability

Moonlanding site

A spectacular flight.

Apollo was lord

Of our neighbouring world.

Quite low

Shining through branches

Broken into bits.

Misty clouds

Wrap it

In darkness

Then it escapes

It’s lighthouse beams

Shining out.

Glints on teeth

Ready to snap

I need the seaside, it’s been a couple of months since we went and I really miss it. I want to see the big blue sky. The blue or grey waves. Stormy, misty or sunny. I don’t care.

I like being beside the sea like it says in the old song, I’m not really bothered about being on it. I don’t like the motion of the ocean.. Up and down, around and down. Waves, breaking over the boat.

Yes, I need to go on a trip along the coast, taking in the scenery. Looking at the boats, feeling the breeze.

I wanted to use the ‘knitting’ pattern that I had drawn as a background for another image. Flip it over, mirror it and crop it, draw over it and add a boat and its reflection. I think it actually works quite well. The sea looks calm as a mill pond despite the wind catching in the boats sails. I added white lines to dilineate the surf as it flows onto the beach.

He’s enjoying colouring in some pictures, relaxing, his style is abstract. Following the lines or adding extra lines, not using regular colours.

He does it his way, and he gets a lot out of it. Getting that “feeling of flow” people talk about. It’s good seeing him drawing and colouring. There is such a large selection of adult colouring books out there. Worth having a go. I like his use of colours.

Autumn sky

The nights are ‘drawing in’, Autumn (fall) starts officially on Wednesday this week. The weather is set to get colder. There will be a change to it, mist and fogs are due, rain and wind, even some storms.

This photo was taken a few nights ago, high pressure over the UK and a red sky in the evening indicating settled warm weather.

Even if we had long term weather forecasts they are never that accurate here in the UK. The air over us is unstable, affected by the ocean, the Arctic, weather over Europe and coming in from the East over Russia. If you want interesting, rapidly changing weather come to the UK.

Moving away from meteors, here are a couple more photos from this evenings walk. Showing Keele Hall and a very tiny thin crescent moon peeping out from behind the branches of an ancient tree on the estate. It relaxed me seeing such a lovely fading sunset. We had been blinded by the westerning sun dropping low on the horizon earlier so it was good that it had set for this photo.

Perseid meteor

It was about 11.40pm tonight in the UK. I was looking through my kitchen window looking west. I was ringing my sister to tell her the Perseid Meteor shower was due tonight, when I saw what I can only describe as a fireball flash by heading north west. Two seconds later, my sister who lives eighty miles away saw it too! It flew over her right shoulder and dissappeared. So it must have been travelling about 40 miles a second. Since then I’ve seen about four meteors (shooting stars). It’s clouded over now. But there should be about 150 an hour after local midnight! X
