Ink blot test…

_20191101_161304

You know the inkblot test? Rorschach test? Why does this photo remind me of rabbits doing a Morris dance? Or laying the drums?

Photo of the sunrise about a month ago I think, with overgrown hedge and trees.

I can see ears, eyes, mouth and nose. Mind you I’ve always seen patterns in wallpaper. Sometimes I see a splodge and from then on I can’t get away from the image of Marge Simpsons blue bin, or a horse rearing…. Why? I don’t know.

Co-op Stoke

IMG_20191024_013434_643_optimized

I love this old domed building in Stoke. I had thought it was a cinema, but apparently it was a co-operative shop before it closed down. I still think it was probably a cinema before that? It’s so grand. The white of the building and the browns and terracottas of the building on front of it make a good contrast. The hot was taken from the Spode Site car park in Eleanora Street, Stoke. The view is looking towards Hartshill and the D Road. It was taken on my phone one day last week.

Using picsart app

_20191023_001325

It’s been a few months since I used my old tablet, so when I installed the picsart app in my new one I wasn’t sure how it would work. I think I’m getting the hang of it although there seem to be lots more options than before. I’m still finding my way round it but I liked being able to put this photo in a frame. To write text and place and resize it easily, added a heart sticker. I also drew the whiskers in a bit more although it was hard to know which pen icon to use and how to change the pen thickness and opacity. But as I already partly knew the app I was soon using it again. I would advise playing with the app, using different tools and filters until you are more confident with it. Remember – you don’t have to save your work if you don’t like it.

These are her boys

These two boys were my female cats kittens, they were rehomed together and now they are about two and a half years old. I occasionally see photos of them, I do miss them. They are like larger versions of their mother. Both boys are really handsome. I wish I’d been able to keep them, and their two sisters that went to another home.

Sea and sand

IMG_20191007_001713_925

Build your castles on the sand and they might be washed away. Water creeps or washes in. It sinks down under the sand. The beach quakes. The rocks fall….

What is sand? Silica, ground up rock and shells. Sand can be melted into glass, a solid once liquid. Fused in heat either through vulcanism, lightening (did you know when lightening strikes damp sand it can melt a branching path through it, like plant roots?). Humans also build kilns and create glass to be blown or fused or slumped.

The sea washes or crashes in to a beach. Longshore drift pushes sand and rock sideways and along a coast. In a severe storm sand can be stripped off a beach completely, and yet it can equally be washed back again.

The world warms, water rises, sand washes away, cliffs crumble, castles crumble.

Life changes and evolves.

Oil and water

FB_IMG_1568676690618

A thin film

Rainbow bright

Smeared on tarmac,

Immiscable,

Like oil and water

They cannot be mixed.

A molecule thick

Sliver of light.

Oil floated on water

Dropped and dripped.

A subtle play of shimmers

A gleam of glimmers,

A ray of sunlight,

Surface spread out like a pancake.

Pollution is washed away

Down drains, into soil.

The colour of oil…..
