Rain arch?

Have you seen it?

Look up on the sky. Can you see it? The rain arch. I don’t understand it. That’s not normal? Who knows what it means?

Is it a stunt, is it possible? How can you believe that is real?

These were the questions being asked by people who saw it. The picture went viral. Then stories of other arches appeared in the news. There was more rain and more arches. No one had an explanation. But strange things continued to happen. The rain arches started appearing at night. There was only the arches. A new phenomena.

Pinned down…. By my cat!

Excuse me?!

Oh come on cat! I can’t move because you are lying om my leg. Weighing it down, stretched out on my lap. I don’t want to disturb you, warm and sleepy. But I need my leg back! It’s falling asleep. I’ve got pain on my ankles, in my hip, in my lower back… There are plenty of other places you could sit or lie. But I want to move. Then you sigh, and relax, and I am lost. I am just your mattress, your bed. I am your slave.

Another walk

Today I was walking up hill and through a local nature reserve. There were also steep steps down which must have been 18 inches deep. I had to grab hold of the handrail and lower myself down each step.

I’ve decided to walk up our steep hill each time we go out for a walk so me and my friend both get a good stretch of our legs and I hope to get the hill over and done with at the start…. Then she decided to drag me up some extra steep bits..

Ooo my ankles hurt! Tomorrow I might be walking to a local park to do some sketching.

He’s in!

Progress! The abandoned cat got up courage and came inside the backdoor this afternoon to have something to eat. He’s gradually getting confident enough to trust us. My boy cat went out again this morning, not far, he’s very nervous of strange noises that make him jump. It’s a balance but I hope all three (including our girl cat) can integrate together.

Yawn

I keep staying up too late. Mainly watching TV. I come from an era when TV programmes were on once a week for about ten or thirteen weeks. Then you had to wait a year for the new series. Now, well its streaming this, streaming that. I’m on episode one of series six at the moment.. And I don’t want to stop watching. I plan my evenings around the programme. I’m so tired guess tonight I will miss an episode.

Band of sketchers challenge

Yes I know its not a building, it’s INSIDE the building. I’m our living room. It’s still bricks and mortar. Anyway it’s the corner with the DVDs and Videos, an old hi-fi system and a lot of books and stuff. Amazing how media and technology changes so much. But not everyone is able to afford replacements. So it’s a case of watching things till they wear out. Anyway that’s the corner of the building I drew. Black ink on cartridge paper.

Comfy cat

He’s curled up on a cushion between out two chairs. Happily asleep. He’s not a cat that twitches much when he dreams. Some of the kick out their legs and run after mice I guess when they sleep. But my boy cat stays calm, a twitch of his ear, or his nose is all he does. Cats sleep for sixteen hours a day as far as I know. Imagine that. Head down, dreaming over what food he will be getting for tea. Slightly pampered. Always loved.

I’m still confused ðŸ˜•

WordPress, it’s like looking in a mirror with your face obscured. You can see it’s there, but you can’t work out what is going on! I tried to update a post that I might have published, or might have been a draft, and I ended up in one of those endless loops, where you don’t know where anything is? I found myself being told the post was empty, that it was a local draft. That I needed to go to a preview rather than editing the post. Then I was told again the post was empty… Feels like fighting with bureaucracy. Not knowing what the other side knows, only what you suspect….. Anyway it eventually posted… I think!

Painting scenery

I just chose a random photo from my gallery. It’s a scenery flat for the mystery plays a few years ago. When you are painting on a board eight foot by four foot you don’t need a lot of detail. But I love these iconic bottle ovens, so of course I decided to paint every brick. Plus it means I can give a bit of perspective rather than leaving it flat looking. I also hate when I see scenery and the perspective is wrong. I have seen some that are really weird. It’s distracting (for me anyway). I can spend more time on looking at scenery than at a performance.

A lot of scenery I’ve done for the Mystery plays was painted very quickly. When we have prepared and rehearsed for them the time we can have to use the hall we work in is limited so that we don’t have to spend too much money.

I don’t know what will happen next year? Will there be another one? I don’t know. For me by next summer it could be a real boost to have it on again.
