Smiling faces

Smiling cloud faces, view of Snowdonia, Wales, UK , June I think, 2019. Wishing I was there now. We haven’t been able to visit for over a year because of Covid…I saw this again today and remembered how enjoyable it was just travelling, exploring, driving down roads I’d never been down before. I don’t mind not driving much, but I’d like to go to a few nice places again….

Remembered scary tree

Oh I used to run past this tree. I was convinced as a child that it was inhabited by a ghost. As part of this terms college work we had to remember some landscape from our childhood and this was what I thought of.

I’ve probably missed out trees and I can’t remember if there were houses in the background. But it will remain with me forever!

Mark making.

Not a good photo, but this was me drawing different marks as part of a mark making workshop.

It was supposed to be in pencil but all I had was a blue pencil crayon. I also tried rubbing over the top of an embossed tin. You had to come up with as many different marks as you coukd in a five minute period. It gets your mind working… Good for creativity.

What are you doing to me wordpress?

Are you turning into instagram?

What are all these new buttons?

Easier or more complex?

My brain is struggling

To keep up with unwanted changes!

I was driving with gears

Now you’ve given me an Automatic

taken away the clutch

but not told me where the brakes are!

Is that fair?

I’m a blogger

not a programmer

or coder

or whatever

these newfangled things are?

Thanks?

1/10 so far….

Faeries

At Trentham Gardens there are a collection of wire woven fairy sculptures. They are dotted here, there and everywhere. Each time we visit we see new ones. One was even dipping down into the lake for a drink. There seems to be a warrior queen on one plinth and lots of them are holding dandelion seed heads. I tried buying a kit and making my own.. I didn’t make the best one.

Dragon

Seen in a shop in Llandudno in 2019.

I would have bought it if I had space in my house. The flame like decoration makes it appear as if it were molten. Like magma or lava erupting from a crack in the earth. Like an Icelandic fumerol. So we’ll modelled, gnashing teeth, mouth open, ready to spit flame.

Welsh dragons are amazing symbols, whilst the English Saint, St George, is famed for killing one. Anyway, I still wish I had bought him. X

Bear and Bee

Just playing with post it notes and cut out paper. I wanted to make something fun and silly. I don’t think the bear is aggressive and the bee is buzzing and not bothered. The bee hasn’t been swatted. The bear has teeth but is just looking on, probably admiring it’s honey collecting skills. The bear might go and steal its honey though!

Blackthorn?

Flowers from a bush in our garden, tentatively matched in the Spring 2021 issue of the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust Magazine, page 13 in the Nature Spy section.

It says ‘Blackthorn is one of the first native shrubs to burst into flower around mid-Marsh.’ (I think it means March) ‘Its fluffy white flowers, tinged with pink, provide vital nectar for the first of the years butterflies, bees and flies. See how many different insects you can spot feeding on the blooms.’
