Old digital drawing I did of House, the actor Hugh Laurie.
I remember him from his comedy act with Stephen Fry, and also his appearances in Blackadder with Rowan Atkinson (who also plays Mr Bean).
I’ve watched most of the episodes, I’m fascinated by his characters ability to diagnose the most unusual diseases, and his inability to socialise with people.

The finals of the Euros is happening and our town is like a ghost town. I snuck a look on line and currently it’s England 1, Italy 1 in the final of the European Cup.
It’s extra time and it’s hard ignoring it. There were roars and cheers outside over an hour ago, then nothing. How can our lives be invested in such a trivial thing? It feels like a tournament in medieval times, a gladiator contest.
So I’m keeping my head down, watching the catch up episode of the Handmaid’s tale by Margaret Attwood and thinking what a strange world this is.
Two years after we had a possible leak in our garden which we were advised was a ‘spring’ we had the water company round again. They had renewed the water stop taps and could hear water rushing through the pipe, much more than we would use in the three houses it supplies.
So after contacting our insurers two years ago and being told by the workmen they sent that it wasn’t a leak, it now is! Now I’m waiting for a letter so I can inform the insurance it’s real. Hopefully we are still insured and we can get it sorted out. Fingers crossed. I will be pleased if we stop having pools of water down at the bottom of the garden.
Today’s band of sketchers prompt is warning… So I drew something but it was wrong the traffic lights are in the middle of the road. .. So I turned it into another cartoon. Warning! Traffic light in wrong place! A bit bonkers today I know… Made with post it notes and felt pen.
I used to love apples, crisp and crunchy or sweet and soft in a pie with cream. I wonder why I’ve stopped buying them? Stopped seeing them? I see lots of soft fruit, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, bananas galore, oranges, peaches, even limes, but I don’t see many apples? Perhaps there has been a shortage of them? Maybe there were not many harvested in autumn.
Funny how you only miss things in a sudden feeling that there is something gone from life. I wonder if politics, brexit, not allowing as many foreign workers into our country, has had an effect on it. It feels like the old sayings ‘shooting yourself in the foot’ or ‘cutting off your nose to spite your face’? No doubt things will sort themselves out? I hope!

Rain rain go away come again another day, or go to where its needed on the West Coast of the United States and Canada. I don’t think I’ll be walking far this afternoon. Watching the tour de France on the TV… And it’s raining heavily there too.
Thunderstorms are forecast here later in the day.
It’s amazing how much heavier rain seems these days, I remember rain in the past being relatively light compared with this! We live on a hill but the road looked like a river a few minutes ago (OK that’s overdoing it, a small stream). Off to get a towel to dry off!
Sketch I did for Thursdays #bandofsketchers prompt ‘show’ which I didn’t have time to post. This shows two heavy horses. They were part of a team of four pulling a brewery cart. One of the events that happen at county shows. I think I’ve captured their characters.
Perennial Geraniums (not to be confused with Pelargoniums) regrow every year after dying back in the autumn and winter. They are also known as cranesbill I think because they sometimes have a prominent pointed central part to the flower (can’t remember what that bit is). If you want ground cover this is a great plant.
We bought two plants ten years ago from the Dorothy Clive Garden and now they are all over the garden. You can cut them back after they have flowered and they might have a second flush of flowers. The bees love them.
We have them planted under the trees in the shady part of our garden. If you look them up on the Internet you can find many different varieties.
I’m stuck, I can’t think, it’s been a couple of years since I did one of these and I’ve forgotten how! I know squares have 1-9, lines have 1-9 but I can’t see the patterns anymore. Just spent an hour on this and only done a third…. Onwards….
