Old hands

Old hands hold tight, remember smooth skin when we first met. Remember missing you when you went away. Riding a motor scooter forty miles to go home for the summer, and you cycled after me.

Smelling blossom when we walked home to the student flats. A stolen kiss. Our history, together. The cats we’ve owned, the cycle rides. Buying a tandem, selling a tandem because the chain kept falling off.

Camping at minus 7 near Clitheroe. Snowy nights. Two pairs of trousers and three jumpers under canvas. Bike trailers and cycle clubs.

Life keeps going. Work, houses, learning. We keep together, stay together.

When life gives you lemons

When life gives you lemons

Leave them to rot

Forget lemonade

I like it, not!

When life gives you lemons

You know its getting sour

Your feeling down

And your temper is dour.

When life gives you lemons

Have a good cry

Remember that all of us

Are born to die.

When life gives you lemons

Make something nice to eat

Pancakes with sugar and lemon

Really do taste sweet!

splodges…

A few weeks ago I was happier,

painting splodges for a college project,

letting colour flow

and wrap itself into my mind

warping patterns

playing with inking rollers

freedom.

Then I was sick

nothing serious,

not covid

not anything really

just pain

continuing.

I have an appointment tomorrow

to check my pain

sort it out

Make it go away…

please.

then I shall sleep,

not wake hourly

gripped by a twisted cramp.

please.

My cats

Brother and sister

I love them, my boy cat (back) and girl cat (front).

I adjusted this photo to black and white because there were too many colours and I thought it would be better with a filter to make the image more coherent. These are both small cats, the girl has a smaller head but a bigger body (she likes her nosh), boy is a healthy weight, not too big. Both are happy and are learning to integrate with the boy cat from outside, even though he’s bigger than both of them, they boss him!

Blurry cat

Outdoor cat is in again. In fact he’s been in three times today. Mainly to avoid the noise of fireworks 🎇 going off.

He will sit on the settee for an hour then mooch back off to the backdoor, to be let out. He’s also eating in the kitchen now. In the past he was eating in the shed, then by the back door. Eventually he started eating inside the back door with the door open… Now, inside. Next thing I want to do is get him a strong flea collar. He’s worn collars in the past so it should be OK.

Tonight there is more progress, he actually played with a cat toy for a few minutes, then came over to be petted by both of us and purred loudly. I’m glad he’s ‘playing nicely’ he’s twice the size of my other cats. I want no squabbles. So I’ll stay up till he wants out again, just to ensure my other two are OK.
