I really like that the collage app I have gone for has shaped templates so you can create a design, maybe modify it, then fit each individual image to a shape in the template. That’s what I did here…. Abstract sweet pepper x
New paintings and regular art updates.

Digital drawing using Artrage. I’ve found the tools to change the background so I used the canvas option. You can also chose a background colour. It looks as if I’ve drawn on canvas board but it’s totally digital. A bit rough round the edges but I like the way the cats eyes have turned out. Off to play some more….

Sad face, small chin and mouth. Another doodle, blue and pale orange. I might try and change some of the black colour to a deep orange. I always seem to draw three quarter portraits looking to the left. I discussed this with a left handed artist, she draws them facing right? Is this significant….

Twirling, whirling, swirling.
Artrage app using metallic digital pens and flood fill, then saving the image and adding extra lines to it, then flipping one side so it’s not quite symmetrical. The red and greens are complimentary colours so they stand out against each other where they haven’t blended together.

Tree drawing done using Artrage, the app I amusing has more options than the one on my old phone so I’m learning how to use the different tools. I’ve also found how to change the opacity. I liked using greyed colours instead of bright ones in this image.

When you get new apps you have to learn how to use them. There are similarities and differences. You try one app and then transport an image into another app and try and alter it by using different filters and pens and markers. Each of these started with the bottom left sketch and then I took a screenshot of it ( I had to find out how on this new phone), then added more on top. It’s not going to be my favourite method of altering images, but I’m learning. I have found recently that drawing tools seem to be limited. Instead you get backgrounds and filters to alter faces and landscapes but using photoshop like tools, not paintbrushes or pens. I know I can do more if I had the tools. Perhaps I will find something more satisfying soon.
Tuesdays #bandofsketchers prompt was Spring. My sister bought me a couple of bunches of daffodils at the weekend. It’s wet outside so I decided to draw them. Close up and using felt pens decided to make it slightly abstract.

Sunset was Sundays #bandofsketchers prompt. As we arrived at our holiday destination one summer I was amazed to see what appeared to be a tall beam of sunshine above the setting sun. I found out later that it was a sun pillar. I think its a phenomenon where sunlight reflects off ice crystals in the sky? A bit like sun dogs. Can’t find the photo to work off so tried to remember it…

Went for a meal out at Sawadee Thai taste in Stoke tonight. While we were there I decided to sketch us. I had to imagine my self portrait, and they are all a bit scruffy as I just drew on a bit of old card I had in my bag, each sketch took a couple of minutes. Apple is the Thai lady that runs the restaurant.
The food was delicious, we had red curry with sticky rice and some pad Thai noodles. Not expensive and good company.

Thursdays #bandofsketchers prompt was seclusion. I was secluded for about 20 hours when my phone battery started to overheat. I took it to the phone shop but it was closed, but I went back later and got a replacement. The pattern on this is meant to be a design for a phone case. Just taking something positive out of a difficult day x
