For today’s #bandofsketchers prompt ‘showers’ I decided to draw a cartoon. I’ve not had much practice doing them, but I just went with the flow.. Lol.
Digital sketch just done for fun. X
New paintings and regular art updates.

So much pollen my eyes smart and itch. The breeze is blowing and the grass is full grown. Sneezing and spluttering, breathing in dust. Allergens float in the air.
Rubbing my eyes till they are red. Enough smarting, so I take antihistamines, but it’s still bad. Sleep can help, eyes are protected when they are closed. Having to write short sentences between the tears. Rain is a friend, dampening the dust and pollen, washing it away down the drains.

Playing with my old photoshop app. It’s a few years old but I can’t afford a new version. The first corner was the drawing, then I used different filters and rotated the images to make this pattern. It could be a vine or a thorny rose. This was for the #bandofsketchers prompt ‘twisted’ for Sunday.

Drawing from 2013, popped up on my Facebook memories. I drew it at the now defunct website sketchfu. Sadly closed because the owners didn’t have the resources to keep it running and towards the end barely communicated with its users. It was a simple drawing site, a few pen sizes, colour picker and palette, and an opacity and eraser button. It was overwhelmed by users writing youth fiction (is that the term). I was a moderator after drawing a few thousand pictures. It’s hard to monitor places like that. So busy!
There are a lot of other drawing sites out there depending on your skill set. I liked Youdraw (basic black and white), 2draw (complex using applets), floating ginkgo (complex) wetcanvas (I forget). Have a look. I found them before I got an android phone and got directed to stuff via Google play which doesn’t seem to show you community drawing sites.

Quick digital sketch using a blurring tool and eraser on top of a previous drawing of a blue woman. I like morphing things from one to another…
Using a sketching app on my phone. And trying to give the face more sharpness and character than a generic idea of a face. I’m being influenced by other artists here including Robin King and stoneronarollercoaster.

What kind of eye
Looks out with a metallic glint?
Surface shining and gleaming
Like curved glass.
Robotic thoughts
Crash with emotion
Cogs meshed and unmeshed.
Indefinite or infinite ideas
Spiralling down into black depths.
Oily liquid lubricates
Diamond glimmers
Do you need love?
How do you reflect in that eye?

Faces, I love them, portraits, doodles, there’s something that makes me draw them. Trying to get features right. I’ve always drawn eyes as well. I try to get them right, but I have a default eye or face, the way as I sketch I try and it from memory. Things like the size of the eyes. The eyelids, the shape of lips. The size and shape of eyebrows. Hairline. I find hair the most difficult. I need more practice, even after sixty years!

Wrinkles?
What are they for?
And going grey
What is the point?
Feeling worn out
Losing my mojo
Growing tired
But I ain’t dead yet
I have knowledge
I see patterns in history.
No not grey
Precious silver
Or platinum.
Not wrinkles
But the map of my life.
Strong like a diamond
Moulded by the pressure
Of living.
Morning plants, 6am digital observational drawing of a citrus plant and Christmas cactus. The sun hasn’t risen yet!
After having my phone for a couple of years I’ve almost learnt how to add a layer. So I decided to add a Bernie to a photo… Welcome to Burslem Bernie!

He’s a bit ghostly as I had to draw free hand round him to select his image and my hand shakes to much to do a line drawn with a finger…
