Keep your mask on!

Our marvellous, incredible, smart government raised all restrictions on Covid 19 a couple of weeks ago. No masks, no social distancing, wonderful?! NOT!

Now Covid numbers that were going down are going up again. What do you mean? you say. Yes numbers are now between 1 in 13 and 1 in 30 depending on where you live in the UK.

Hospitals are taking in more patients although they are not all ending up in intensive care. Our government seems to think we ‘have to live with it’ more like ‘have to die with it’. I wish our government had a few brains instead of bean counters!

Vaccine

Today was second vaccine day. On a cold afternoon I went to a health center for it. It was probably colder and wetter than it was twelve weeks ago. It was certainly very windy.

It was great to get inside, everyone was socially distanced. People were seated around the edges of the room but I was ushered straight through after having my temperature taken. I think that was because I was on my second jab so they had already got my details.

A couple of minutes later I was being asked which arm I wanted the jab in. The nurse said ‘sharp scratch’ but to be honest I didn’t feel anything. After utting on my coat I went to sit with a group of people sitting a couple of meters apart. Ten minutes later, with no obvious side effects, I was allowed to go.

I went shopping on the way home. I feel fine, just an achy shoulder, and that might just be the pain I sometimes get in my frozen shoulder. Onwards and upwards. I hope the world can roll out the vaccine everywhere, not just in rich Western countries.

Zoom song…

I’ve got an old song in my head and I can think of words to modernise it..apologies to the original writers…

“we’re all going on a zoom tomorrow, zoom tomorrow, zoom tomorrow, we’re all going on a zoom tomorrow, you can come along too…

We’re going on a Zoom, zoom, zoom,

We’re meeting on a Zoom, zoom zoom,

You can come too, too too. We’re meeting on a zoom…..

We’re all getting loo paper tomorrow, loo paper tomorrow, loo paper tomorrow.

We’re all getting loo paper tomorrow.

You can come shopping too.

Were going to the shop shop shop, yes we’re going to the shop shop shop..

You can come too too too. We’re going to the shop..

We’re all getting the flu tomorrow, flu tomorrow, flu tomorrow, we’re all getting the flu tomorrow,

You can get it too,

We’re getting the flu, flu flu, you can get it too too too, we’re getting the flu flu flu,

You can catch it too, too too.

We’re not getting Covid tomorrow, covid tomorrow, covid tomorrow, we’re not getting covid tomorrow, because we’ve had the jab!

How about you, you you?

You can have a jab too too too..

How about you you you?

Stay safe too too too!

Corridor

Welcome to Spode studios. I have to admit I have not been in since the March lockdown. My reasons? Covid19, fear of catching it or passing it on if I do catch it.

The corridors are usually quiet, but you don’t know who’s there. I should call in, but now I’ve started an online course my available time has reduced. I need to make a timetable. To work out when I should go in. I have good intentions, but as they say about them, the road to hell is paved with them. I guess I’m really a bit down and still recovering from my tonsillitis. Yuk.

The Arts?

From a friends Facebook page, I think I agree with the sentiment. It’s a bit apocalyptic, but things are getting bad for artist and performer friends.

Next time there’s a lockdown, nobody is allowed to watch Netflix, Amazon Prime or any other platform.
You must NOT listen to music or read a book.
Free online concerts from the biggest stars in the world? Nope, they’re out too.
Learn an instrument? Banned
Dance Classes? No
How about listen to an audiobook? Not a chance!
The UK Government have ordained the Arts as low skilled and, therefore, of no value.
Now imagine life without them

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Want to visit Wales

Over a year ago we visited Llandudno and walked along the pier at the seafront. This is at the far end looking back at a magestic hotel. We also went up the Great Orme mountain in a tram car (there is a chair lift too). We went back to North Wales at Christmas and stayed for a couple of days, but that’s the last time we had a trip over there because of covid 19. I would love to live over there but we would never be able to afford it and I would miss all my friends here. But once life has got back to a more normal situation I think we will start visiting the beautiful countryside of Wales again. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Covid 19 SCAM, BEWARE!

sketch-1560973460669

Bad bad people 😡😡😡 ………And so it begins!……
‘Good afternoon I’m calling from the NHS track and trace service. According to our system, you are likely to have been in close proximity to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. This means that you now need to self-isolate for 7 days and take a COVID-19 test.’
‘OK. Can you tell me who that person was?’
‘I’m not able to tell you that. That is confidential information.’
‘Right. Um… so ….’
‘But you do need to be tested within the next 72 hours. So can I just get the best mailing address so that we can send a kit to you?’
‘Ok (gives address)’
I just need to take a payment card so that we can finalize this and send the kit to you.’
‘Sorry – a payment card? I thought this was all free?’
‘No – I’m afraid not. There is a one-off fee of £50 for the kit and test results. Could you read off the long card number for me, please, when you’re ready.’
‘No – that’s not right. This is part of the NHS so there’s no charge.’
‘I’m afraid there is. Can you give me the card number please – this is very important, and there are penalties for not complying.’
Puts the phone down.
This is how scammers work. And vulnerable people will fall for it.”
Don’t fall for it…!

Masks

IMG_20200328_180652_593_optimized

From Monday people will have to wear masks in shops here in England. That doesn’t bother me, me and my hubby have both been wearing face coverings of one thing or another since lockdown began.

What does bother me is the outcry against them. A Tory MP tore up his membership card because of it.

Now our Prime Minister is saying it could all be OK by Christmas!

This is after over 45000 deaths that have been attributed to Covid 19 since it arrived here.

I’ve had a couple of family members that have had it. One is still affected a couple of months later. They told me it’s nothing like a touch of flu. That it’s really bad, and they didn’t get it badly.

Now I’ve got one friend telling me it’s all fake, not real, all a conspiracy! Another said she wouldn’t have a vaccination or allow her daughter to have it. Why? Why would you put your granny, or uncle, or child at risk because you don’t believe in a virus? Why would you not wear a mask to protect others?

And why would you not take a vaccine if it was safe? When Edward Jenner came up with a vaccine for Smallpox maybe the people in his day were against it. But why now? How many people are alive today because they were vaccinated. In this age of Fake news we need to use our brains. Not believe the first thing that someone says on the Internet. We need to fact check maybe.

But most of all we need to be safe and wear a mask and wash our hands.

Carrier bags

_20200717_223346

I was asked to give some carrier bags to the local food bank today. I’m very bad at remembering to take bags with me when I go shopping and I didn’t want to throw them away to go in landfill.

I handed them over to a friend outside the local supermarket. She had started a couple of years ago getting almost out of date, unsold food, and dry goods. But as austerity had increased and now the devastating effect of covid 19,she has found herself getting food for people seven days a week! She is a volunteer and decided she must do something as the local Councillor is not at all helpful.

I asked her how she copes, she’s been ill recently, she says she just has to. She cannot give up on people.

I wish I had her commitment. All I did was hand over a few carrier bags. I have to ask why people are in this situation. How have we got to this. The sixth wealthiest country in the world? But cruel to people in poverty. Who are seen as useless and not worth the money. Another Councillor has called people from my city ‘peasants’ this week. Remind me to tug my forelock!
