Posting stuff

How do you use social media?

I post inanities, some profanities.

I post comments and responses, photos and art, I share posts and repost. Much of it isn’t important. I’ll ask people to answer questions, like can you name an A to Z of fruit? Or do you remember TV programmes in the 60’s or 70’s? And of course I post pictures of my cats.

I post here and at other sites such as Facebook. I sometimes write poems or short stories. I try and come up with interesting digital sketches and art. Exploring fine art ideas and creating new paintings. I sometimes even create pottery or sculpture.

I occasionally play games online but I’m not keen on video games or whatever it’s called now. I sometimes look up facts but I tend to rely on my own knowledge and understanding. I’m no influencer, that’s not what I’m interested in. But it makes for a more varied life and keeps me occupied (too much)! Plus you get to meet interesting and unusual people xxxx

3 cats and…

What are 5 everyday things that bring you happiness?

Three cats, birdsong, books.

My family is my cats, they keep me company, amuse and irritate, sometimes in equal measure. They are loving but also bonkers. Chasing each other around the house, up and down stairs, jumping up and sleeping on my chair when I’m out of the room.

Today I heard birdsong from the garden, the sun was shining and the wind had settled down, suddenly a blackbird started singing loudly. The song was thrilling, musical, lyrical. Complex and melodic. Blackbirds songs increase in complexity as they get older. It was beautiful.

Finally I’ve included books. I bought back some lovely art books from my studio. One is about Women Surrealist Artists, another about The Faery Garden by someone called Beatrice Phillpotts. There are more, images from Nasa about space exploration, micrographic images of plants, and other books.

These five things are everyday things that bring me great happiness.

Old paintings

Two small, quick paintings of cats that I painted years ago. My friend sent it to me recently. Both of them have also got poppy details. I will see if I can zoom in on them to see if I can get clearer views of them. I know they are mine, but I genuinely can’t remember painting them. That makes me feel guilty, I think I should recognise all of my work. Memory frays as you get older x

Oh for a good night’s sleep

Distractions don’t work, I’m dreading the night, time for my mind to run riot. Put the radio on low? I just have to listen. I can’t stop myself. It’s too dark so I put the light on to feel safer. The cats jump on the bed but then want attention. My head spins. My circadian rythms are all over the place. A cup of cocoa doesnt work. Yawning now. 8.30am another sleepless night.

Eating for one

Fish fingers and layered pasta salad? 40 odd years of eating together makes choosing portion sizes odd. Last night the cats were surprised at getting a lot of chicken breast. I can’t remember what I had for lunch… Oh yes, hot cross buns that were going stale. That’s the other thing, lots of food are in “serves two” packets. My freezer is too small to store much.

I will see what happens when hubby comes home? But I think things will be different. Life is a pain sometimes.

Have I bored you?

Twins?

How do I get readers attention?

Should I write:

Poems, stories about cats, short stories, art, life, Sci fi, a mixture? I try and keep up with the times, but am I boring you? I need to be self critical and also intelligible. Are my posts interesting? I try and be polite, considerate, thoughtful, but I’m probably too old fashioned.

I can’t talk about pop music, and I love science. I try and think things through. I think I must be a nerd

So far this post has been about me (I), but really, what about you?

Have you any suggestions, and ideas, are you interested in knitting or quantum physics? I can’t promise to be able to write about either, but I’m willing to try!

Two cats one box

No sooner had the big cat got out of the box then the small cat got in! Middle cat slept in it last night, I didn’t think to take a photo of him in the darkness.

Cats and boxes are such a good fit! No pun intended. I think they like them to keep away draughts!

Oops, now it’s empty, the cat got bored! With boxes “one size fits all cats”.

Yin yang cats

My attempt at wax resist printing that I did with the brilliant Belinda Latimer a few years ago. I enjoyed trying to do Batik in her workshop, creating layers of colour. I also did a print of a couple of fish that I called Pisces had framed in a deep wooden frame. Another example of my experimental art practice.

They slept

These two are getting much more tolerant of each other. They don’t follow each other around, I think the smaller of the two is a few years older, so he sleeps more. But they tend to eat together, and now they are sleeping in the same place. They looked so comfortable that I didn’t move them, I slept sitting upright on the settee until they both got off and went outside.
