To be honest I don’t know. If I did it might be OK, but I haven’t decided yet. Sometimes you can have too many options at your fingertips.
Days are getting shorter now and the fruit is getting ripe. We have plenty of pears on our tree, but of all five apple trees only one fruit. But then after weeding the allotment this morning we were allowed to get a tub of apples in exchange. Some of them are different varieties, a lot of them are a bit holey but I’m hoping they will taste nice if I stew them up or cook them in a cake. If it turns out OK I will post about it.

Our art group met this morning to help weed an allotment for a local community group that has taken over a couple of them. There was lots to pull out, but also some beautiful ornamental poppies which we tried to leave in. I was pulling out couch grass, dandelions, euphorbia, dock plants and other weeds. I do think allotments are a good way to get fresh air and exercise when you want to also produce some food for yourself. My hubby was so kern he started asking about getting an allotment to grow fruit trees. We shall see.
More a mask? Made of papier mache for last years penkhull mystery play in July 2019.
My hubby played the master Potter. At the start he was like a shop dummy, wearing a painted mask. Then as two children go back in time to experience life in the 1840’s for poor children, the Potter discards his mask and turns into a real person. We couldn’t do a real potters wheel so I painted a papier mache pot to look like wet clay.
Hubby made a perfect potter. He really enjoyed the play. We were really sad that it didn’t happen this year.

Hubby decided it would be a good idea to bring the outside cat in, so he bought it into the living room. But it was not happy and struggled out of his grip. Our boy cat followed him as he’s friendly, but the outside cat turned round and hissed and swiped at him. I showed him where the cat flap was. He scarpered. Then as our female cat came to look at what was happening by the backdoor the abandoned cat lashed out again, this time from outside the cat flap. Result three confused and upset cats! So next time we will try a more gentle integration.
I’ve posted these ages ago but since I deleted a lotof photos everything is jumbled up. These were drawings I did of a horses bit, and cast bronze fittings for a cart or chariot wheel.
I tthink I might have used a cartridge pen or a fountain pen to draw these. I can’t remember, they are almost forty years old. I can’t even credit the book I drew them from as I don’t remember and I’m not sure where I have put my thesis. I still like these…
When you have over 8000 photos on your phone it’s time to downsize. I decided to use a cleaning app and optimise my images. I’ve done a few hundred before, but feeling optimistic I decided to do 4000!
Mistake. I decided to delete the originals as a lot of them are megabit or high kilobits sizes. Plus I don’t really want to store things on the cloud. It started well, but I found that sometimes I’m getting messages ‘could not delete, please try again’. I’m going back in months, and sometimes the black deleted files are in blocks, other times in a checkerboard pattern. It reminds me of defragging my computer years ago.. Does anyone even do that anymore?
Anyway, back to work…
This popped up in my memories on Facebook and I remember doing four of these, Earth, Fire, Water, Air in ArtRage oils, but I can’t find the other three. I did them as companion pieces to four acrylic on canvas paintings of the same subjects that are in my studio down at spode which I really need to start going back to now things are a little more normal.
I’d like like to do some illustrations for a child’s book using ideas like this. Anyone interested?
and why not…? If you’ve got a dragon, why not go all unicorn… I tend to draw dragon heads a bit like horses heads. Unlike the dragon in ‘how to train your dragon’ where toothless the dragon reminds me of a black cat.. I digress. The app I used to create this is called something like free sketch? The trouble is I use so many of them that I don’t always remember which one I’ve used!
On this sketch I tried using a fountain pen, but for some reason it won’t make marks? This is why I say experimenting is so important. Learning how to use a tool in an app so that you can understand what it does.
I’m just getting the hang of it…
